I agree with you and along with that not to mention it's not like the U.S. isn't exploiting the sh!t out of other countries for resources, cheap labor, and strategic purposes. I get the America first sentiment too such as @the cac mamba alluded to. I'm definitely more sympathetic to the educational needs of underprivileged girls here than in foreign lands. However, for as much exploiting and finessing as this country does we really shouldn't complain too much when this same government pays it forward with programs designed to assist those same countries.

this is simply my immediate reaction to any foreign aid story with respect due to the fact that worldwide, this country has a lot of wrong to atone for

this is a terrible line of thinking

educating women in third world countries is one of the quickest and most effective ways of dealing with poverty. there have been social experiments done where funds have been dispersed to women/mothers vs. males in third world countries, and they've all shown a stark contrast between re-investment in the family (by the women) and outright losing the money via bad investments or vices (by the men).

you want to stop spending money sending aid to Africa in the year 3000, this is one of the ways you're going to do it.

You outchea trying to explain globalization to a country and most of the first world who is on a big nationalist movement.
Most people don't realize this and free trade are what really help nations develop and thrive.
