A lot of things we thought wouldn't happen have happened.

I just don't see what would be in it for Trump. If I were him weighing up the pros and cons, it just doesn't seem worth it. Especially not while he's still in office. If he pardons him at the end of his term, that would make more sense because then he doesn't have to deal with the (inevitable, justified) consequences.

Like, what does Trump have to gain by pardoning him? He already has the support of racist cacs

Man, such a scary time for black folk in America I'm British so we're all a bit removed from what's going on, despite Trump being in the news all the time here too

This is is pure red meat for his base and a nightmare for Chauvin.

Chauvin is pretty much isolated under protective custody in the federal prison. Those state charges will have him in a state prison in general population and he will get touched.

They desperately want black folks out on those streets angry and protesting in order to justify enforcing martial law. It will only get worse as shelves get empty, common essentials become scarce, and hard times get harder. They want us out there that bad.
