HUD claims the changes are meant to address long wait lists for public housing. Some 200,000 families are on the wait list at NYCHA, where there’s only a vacancy rate of 1%, officials said. :what:

“The new HUD proposal is yet another attempt to advance the Trump Administration’s xenophobic agenda,” Judith Goldiner of the Legal Aid Society said. :what:

can someone explain this to me objectively? why the fukk are people who are here undocumented in front of citizens on a wait list to public housing? and it's "xenophobic" to question that? :bryan:

this isn't an antagonistic thread, bush it if you want. im curious what the defense of this is from the crowd who says illegals dont take opportunities from citizens, and dont cost taxpayers money, when this is hard evidence of both

Legally at least one person in the household has to be a citizen or legal immigrant in order to receive public housing or section 8 assistance. In the case of section 8 if an illegal immigrant is a member of an assisted household then the family would receive less rental assistance than they would if all members were legal residents. If a family is made up of only illegal immigrants then they would not receive assistance. My thinking is that if you know these are illegal immigrants and you know where they live then why not deport them if you really want to deal with too many illegal immigrants in the country.

What you need to understand is that just because someone is on a waiting list doesn't mean they will be eligible for assistance. Each agency uses their own criteria for how to determine someone's position on the waiting list, so are first come first served, some have preferences for the homeless, the disabled and veterans and some put everyone who applies in random order.

As far as taxes being used for non citizens, the assistance is prorated so that only the legal residents are covered by the tax dollars used for the household.

what you need to understand is that no non-citizen deserves a spot in government housing when a citizen is on the waiting list behind them :camby: get the fukk outta here

You don’t understand the issue or read what anyone writes so what’s the point?

You didn’t share the entire article and it’s doesn’t even really get into the matter.

200,000 are on a waiting list because there’s a housing crisis and this doesn’t address that. If anything it could make it much worse by putting families on the street.

“Illegals”aren’t even illegible for most forms of government assistance. You support making citizens homeless because they have an undocumented family member who is probably in the process of legalizing?
Very shortsighted.

This is just laughs for you and reveling in your hatred of non whites though.

You must be such a miserable piece of shyt in real life.
