Hey.....I'm not mad at this......this actually got me like :ohhh:.....

Senators serving 6 years always had me like :jbhmm:...and then unlimited...

There is other aspect too...don't quote me, I need to find the actual information, but Senators were actually voted in by the state legislature, and the state legislature could actually vote to recall the Senators from Congress, and vote someone in new.

What do you know, a week after the Republican congressional leadership jumps off the Trump Train, he comes up with a policy position that would result in all of them losing their jobs. What a strange coincidence. Is this Trump the populist champion or another temper tantrum from a man who can't deal with rejection?

Except, experience matters.

In an increasingly globalized world, you don't need people who don't know WTF they're doing holding important positions. I'm sorry some of ya'll don't understand this.

I'm all for "access" to office, but keeping office isn't something that should be taken lightly.

Adversaries around the world aren't just giving up power like that and we need competent, experienced people to represent our COLLECTIVE interest.

I'm all for holding them more accountable and what not...but theres arguments against this that you all haven't considered (as usual).
3 terms then :manny:

We have specialized branches of the federal government that allows "experience" to build such as the military, CIA, FDA, etc. etc.

Most Senators and congressmen rely heavily on lobbying groups and outside interest to dictate to them anyways as far as the nitty gritty details of a lot of stuff. They don't have this vast collection of knowledge like you're suggesting. There is also specialized congressional staff to help with the more detail oriented aspects of the job. Given how many different types of topics and items the congress is involved in, its impossible for any single human to become a master of all that information and knowledge.

So, you can keep all the non-elected positions already there to do the heavy lifting and swap out the senators and congressmen within certain limits. I don't think it would be as catastrophic as you;'re suggesting.

Congress isn't going to vote on something that will shorten their political careers. I think there would be a lot of unintended consequences limiting the amount of terms one can serve.

Sure I'd be for term limits, but it won't happen.

Trump isn't serious about term limits, just like he isn't serious about running for president. You are proving that you are a naive sucker just like everyone else Trump has conned and fukked over his whole life by taking this latest cynical political ploy seriously, much less getting excited about it.
It is black folk who are naive suckers for fawning over Rodham-Clintons hot sauce tactics during the primaries :outtahere:

I'm very ambivalent on this. Unlimited terms help to entrench the political class, which is bad. But if we established term limits the immediate winners would be right wing candidates who, due to their ability to raise money and serve capital networks, would more easily be able to gain name recognition and obtain resources needed to gain office.
