His successes were generally unimportant in the grand scheme of the war, involved large losses in manpower which the Confederacy couldn’t afford to replace, and came mostly against the worst Union generals put against him. The minute Lee had to go up against a general who knew what he was doing, like Ulysses Grant, he lost far more often than he won. His reputation today is a myth born of pro-Confederate, Lost Cause propaganda. Not to mention, he turned against his country to join the side of the people wanting to maintain slavery, so fukk him and anyone who glorifies him. Lee was a loser.
