This is a pot that has been boiling since Trayvon. White people have been making it clear they want to be openly racist without repercussions.
Yet black people still want to have “conversations”. How many years have we been explaining things to them? They get it. They play dumb, and we continue to fall for it. On a more positive note, the “stop apologizing” wave is picking up steam, and will hopefully wake a lot of us up, so we stop focusing on inclusion with people who have made it obvious they want to disrespect us, and focus on building for ourselves.
But that’s hard with the amount of us who are ready, willing, and able to defend racists, because they’re our “friends”. We need to teach our children that a white person can be racist, and like us as individuals.
