So you don't think supposedly "less government" conservative believe in more government when a possibility of enforcing white supremacists is available? Hasn't history shown you this to be the case?

You're trying to walk the line to hide your bias here of on one hand stating both sides are bad and filled with white supremacists and one side isn't better than the other. Yet, without pause assume geniune beliefs of less government of the conservative while acting incredulous of geniune progressive social beliefs in regards to race centered policy for liberals . By the way Kavanaugh has argued for racial profiling and stop and frisk. Kagen on the other hand dissented on a case where evidence is collected in illegal searches.
Supreme Court Says Police May Use Evidence Found After Illegal Stops

These same "less government" conservatives on one hand support Trump tarrifs which harm soy and hog farmers but are passing multibilion dollar bailouts of, conservative voting , farmers to make up the deficits for farmers caused by the tarrifs.

You're full of shyt .
Conservatives and Dems crave more government , conservatives only pay lip service to that statement.

I'm not walking a line at all. I openly say both sides are terrible and the exact same with regard to the state.
That said there are things both sides state that I agree with.

Slaves were here before July 4th, 1776, before this country was founded, unlike most immigrants. So slaves are technically natives and so are their descendants.
dude, it wasn't until 1866 Civil Rights Act and the 14th Amendment that slaves were given full citizenship.

You're wrong on this.

They never wanted to give us full rights. We had to fight and die for that.

Lets not be so hasty to shyt on hispanics and anchor babies (which all countries do, especially places like Russia and China).

I'm one of the HARSHEST people on illegal immigrants, but birthright citizenship is an attractive soft-power advantage that no other country has.

Also this is a nation of immigrants so "blood right" doesnt fukking apply.

Hmmm.... actually I wouldn’t say this.
I would say there are two tiers of American citizenship. The first tier is what I would designate “blood right” which would be Native American, the Colonialist (the Conquerers) and the Slaves. All three of these populations were here at the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Then there is the second tier which are the countless immigrants that came after.

This EO will be struck down and it should be. I've always disagreed with jus soli. Former slaves and their decendents for instance, should have recicieved citizenship by nature of their special status and not as a general rule. But that's not what the constitution says. No EO can change that.

USA has already goofed. Immigrants have too much power. If all immigrants were kicked out, wherever they go would improve and America will suffer. In short, immigrants run America.

:patrice: I think the US helps immigrants from developing countries more than immigrants from developing countries help the US. I do think tho immigrants could and should help their homelands by returning though.

Others love to bring up the fight against WS, but what we really need to ask ourselves is, are those who come to this country ready to get in the fight with AAs against WS? We’ve been fighting, and despite what you see on here, the overwhelming majority of AAs will put immigrants who would be affected by this on their backs, and fight for them.

We fight, but most immigrants come to this country to make a better lives for themselves and make money. Fighting supremacy isn’t on the brain, as you’ve got African immigrants on here who have said they’re strictly here to better there lives, have immigrant relatives making money off of AAs, will go back to their homelands if and when sh*t hits the fan, etc.

You can’t get on AAs for their attitudes in regards to immigration now, when I’d imagine the majority of immigrants haven’t been concerned with supremacy until supremacy started really brushing up against them and when it came to AA issues, remained silent or came up with excuses while we were going through our issues.

i dont give a fukk about the constitution, so im not outraged. it was written by slaveowners who rode horses 250 years ago, and it's not an infallible document

and they arent being PUNISHED :what: they just arent RECEIVING something from the country

How do you qualify a child born to immigrant parents. What are they? US or non-US citizens? Would they have to to go to the consulate for a child born in the US? How would that affect the laws of that nation? What if that nation also has strict immigration standards?

Where does that leave the child? What about his rights? His ability to get a job or receive medical treatment? What is the status of the child while waiting? The parents?

I only ask that because I was born to immigrant, non-citizen parents

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

Was it Dr. King or a white Democrat who said that? :bppatrice:

Militants continue to prove they are unwitting agents of white supremacists. Not only is this morally wrong and a violation of our laws, this will effect black children who's parents are born elsewhere and the overall goal is to further establish white nationalism. Best believe they won't care if a white child is born from parents who came from Norway.

If you celebrate the fukking over of 'other' people, bear in mind your'e also a minority and trump will get to you sooner or later with one of his far right policies. In Black people case, it'll be an economic policy trump wants to axe to save money and Black folks'll be hurt.
Things like this usually snowball..starts off small, then expands to whole Muslim bans, family separations to discourage immigration..then the shooting up of Jew synagogues.

right, and in the event they want to seek refuge somewhere else....

For all the coli posters that say hold their nuts(especially the ONE who resides in another country), shows their scizophenic mindset

It would have kept a lot of slaves as non-citizens...thats what people don't understand...

I'm one of the strongest anti-people against illegals ...but this is flat out immoral and he's not even telling the truth about how many countries have it.

Its a strong soft-power benefit of being American and we should keep it.

Please list sources - when you spew things like this. That's why immigrants and children of immigrants be trying to come at and try to "scare" AADOS - because they do not know the history and facts.

And how is this immoral - when people purposely come over to have children to benefit from what we barely get? At the same time - look at AADOS as lower than and/or lazy?

And to verify....

When "slaves" became emancipated after the Civil War -- they became "Freedman."

A freedman or freedwoman is a former slave who has been released from slavery, usually by legal means. Historically, slaves were freed either by manumission (granted freedom by their owner) or emancipation (granted freedom as part of a larger group). A fugitive slave is one who escaped slavery by fleeing.

In the United States, the terms "freedmen" and "freedwomen" refer chiefly to former slaves emancipated during and after the American Civil War, by the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th Amendment. Slaves freed before the war, usually by individual manumissions, often in wills, were generally referred to as "Free Negroes" or free blacks. In addition, there was a population of black Americans born free, descendants of families of unions between white women (indentured servants or free) and black men (whether indentured servants, slave or free.)

The Fourteenth Amendment gave ex-slaves full citizenship in the United States. The Fifteenth Amendment gave voting rights to adult males among the free people; as only adult males had the franchise among whites. The 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments are known as the "civil rights amendments", the "post-Civil War amendments", and the "Reconstruction Amendments".

The History Behind the Birthright Citizenship Battle

Black voting rights, which were guaranteed in the 15th Amendment, came under sustained attack for more than a century. Were there similar efforts to roll back birthright citizenship itself?

After 1868, African-Americans are citizens, if they are born in the United States. Now they have a tool that protects them from any effort to remove them from the country. With citizenship, there really is a there there, even as the struggle over civil rights continued, arguably into our own moment.

Where this really comes into relief is in 1882, with the Chinese Exclusion Act [which prohibited immigration of laborers from China]. Children of Chinese immigrants are being stopped when they try to re-enter the country. Customs officials assert that even though they were born in the United States, they are not citizens, and have no right to enter. That’s not the case with African-Americans.

You are a strong defender of birthright citizenship. But you’ve also written about how it is a “barrier” for undocumented immigrants. How so?

The 14th Amendment was a 19th-century remedy that did a great deal, but it was not designed to grapple with the problem of mixed-status families.

The 14th amendment, in guaranteeing citizenship, was mean to restore and bequeath family integrity to African-Americans. But we now see it functioning to violently separate families. If Michael Anton and I agree about anything, it’s that at this moment we have a humanitarian crisis that requires we rethink our citizenship regime.

If you or anyone else want to learn more....

Birthright.Cover_-678x1024.jpg

Before the Civil War, colonization schemes and Black laws threatened to deport former slaves born in the United States. Birthright Citizens recovers the story of how African American activists remade national belonging through battles in legislatures, conventions, and courthouses. They faced formidable opposition, most notoriously from the US Supreme Court decision in Dred Scott.

Still, Martha S. Jones explains, no single case defined their status. Former slaves studied law, secured allies, and conducted themselves like citizens, establishing their status through local, everyday claims. All along they argued that birth guaranteed their rights. With fresh archival sources and an ambitious reframing of constitutional law-making before the Civil War, Jones shows how the Fourteenth Amendment constitutionalized the birthright principle, and black Americans’ aspirations were realized. Birthright Citizens tells how African American activists radically transformed the terms of citizenship for all Americans.
