Americans are concerned about illegal immigration and want more secure borders, but it's a dwindling concern. Trump is just fearmongering to play up the xenophobes.

When you have 11-30 million illegal immigrants you have a problem, no matter what anyone wants to say about xenophobia. Period.

The fact that you don't even know how accurate that number is between 20m says a lot.

Well considering that illegal immigration and legal immigration are both widely unpopular with the whole electorate and are reviled in the GOP base, I'd say that's a reasonable statement.

Popular opinions aren't always right or moral.

I haven't seen the GOP oppose legal immigration.

I even support immigration reform to simplify and streamline the process, but just all of this caping for illegal immigrants makes me sick to an extent.

If you weren't such a contrarian simpleton you'd have read in my previous post(that you quoted, but apparently didn't read past the first three words) that the reason the GOP doesn't actively oppose immigration within its mainstream has everything to do with it's enthrallment with corporate entities that benefit from labor that operates without labor protections. The GOP base(aging white working to middle class men) dislikes immigration. They aren't the ones who unilaterally decide platform.

Regardless of your totally nuanced, totally not racist concerns with illegal immigration, the rate is probably still in decline.
