Not necessarily Space Force related, but the growth of Huntsville into an aerospace hub has been in the cards since Northrup Grumman scaled back their operations here at Dobbins and headed that way. Residential growth in Cobb wasn't going to mesh well with a base smack in the middle of things.

Room to grow, I guess. :manny:

The Trump administration has no idea what it's doing. Just a few month's ago, they were on the verge of gutting Rocket City in Huntsville.

None of those things would have been worked on at the time they were if there wasn't a space program.

So instead of having CAT scans available now, we could still be trying to figure that shyt out.
Digital image techniques would have advanced regardless.

I'm not sure about outside of Alabama but this has been known as the most likely outcome since Biden was in office. Huntsville had been expanding and increasing staff and building government buildings and hotels for at least 3 years and even started moving some federal workers from Montgomery to Huntsville for a while now. I was given a chance to go but turned it down because I have a house in Birmingham already and it is a halfway point between Montgomery and Huntsville. I wanna say Boeing has a new facility there too that either just opened or is about to open in Huntsville.

You know something

Huntsville coming up:sas2:

space funding is waste funding
I agree from the perspective of space exploration. But from a defense standpoint, it's arguably more important than a lot of things we consider traditional military spending on earth.

Our whole world would crumble instantaneously if the satellite infrastructure of America was sabatoged by an adversary. This is referring to communication satelites for cell carriers, weather satelites for fema, geopositioning satelites for gmaps, etc. This is even more important as we get closer to quantum computing , which will necessitate even more satelite communication due to QKD cyber security.

It doesn't even need to be an adversary, even one of our domestic satlites could cause Kessler Syndrome if it went on the wrong trajectory, so you would have to have military infrastructure in space to shoot them down or physically bump them into a degenerate orbit.
