Our crime is ridiculously concentrated in two areas. Chicago crime is nothing to downplay. Ive lived in several hoods in several cities including 9th ward NO and havent seen anything like this. Usually one can mind their business to avoid the bullshyt but in Chicago anyone can get it. These lil mfs shoot into crowds leaving church and that was in Uptown. Something has to be done.

I know there is a problem, but this isn't being done out of genuine compassion. There are cities with higher crime rates that these right wingers never mention. This isn't about actually helping people, it's all about symbolism.

man, there are damn near ZERO jobs located in the areas where most of the black folks live. I'm talking the south and west sides. meanwhile, u go to the west suburbs, north suburbs, north side, and downtown where predominantly live, there's plenty of jobs and opportunity. it really is two different worlds out here.

This is supposed to be the safe part. I cant even imagine living further south. I love Chicago but the crime is making this place unbearable. Something has to be done.

It sucks because on one hand you don't want militarized forces patrolling your neighborhood. On the other hand what's the the alternative? There's no quick fix so what can be done in the meantime to stop some of the violence?

Offer those "thugs" trade programs(construction; IT, coding, etc) and 40k jobs, that violence will decrease tremendously.
