Trump will be out of office before whatever agency becomes of "Space Force" does anything.

He's trying to get the space force established by next year or 2020. If he wins another term who knows wtf he will do with i t... also if he wants military presence in space, why not use the Air Force along with the help from NASA instead of having to create a 6th branch?

I think ya'all are missing what he's doing.

This isn't even going to be anything new. The Air Force already has a space operations division, and other aspects of the project are spread throughout the armed forces. This is a lot like Homeland Security, taking things that already exist and spinning them off into a new division as a PR move and to decrease accountability.

Yo, if trump is really serious about this whole space force shyt, then i think it will benefit the country in the long run. USA will soon lose it's place as a super power country to china or russia.Think about it brehs, a fukking space fortress orbiting the earth armed with a huge nuclear radioactive laser cannon with pin point accuracy that can obiliterate an entire country from outer space. That would be the illest checkmate in the history of mankind. No country would ever fukk with murica.

I wish things were that simple. There is more that could potentially go wrong than could go right. And the consequences for any mishaps could be disastrous for the entire planet. The thought of nuclear weapons on this planet is unsettling alone, however the thought of nuclear weapons hovering over all of us in space should be absolutely terrifying. Even if the US were to have the upper hand in terms of space weaponry, that hegemony would be quite brief. And if the US does follow suit with weaponizing space other countries will follow suit shortly there after(Russia, China, India, Pakistan, EU, etc.) .

not if we get there first. U.S will set up a blockade in slace to prevent forgein forces setting up thier own military base in space. The U.S can intimidate other countries with it's space fortress similar how they did back in the old days (i think we still do it today with aircraft carriers)where it sent naval ships to the shore of the country that is causing problem to the U.S or disobeying it. If we manage to get up there, this country will not fall like rome within a 1000 years.
