Trying to buy some cheap earbuds/headphones, what are some specs I should look out for?

I brought mines last week they nice.
always gotta be that one guy paying $380 for a pair of headphones...
I had a pair of Sony MDR 7506, that lasted me from 2005 till 2012 only cause my dog chewed the cable. Cost: $100.
I currently have a pair of Bose Soundsports since 2012 that cost me $75.
I also have a pair of Bose QC25 that cost me $225 that are a year old.
Beats are trash, and so are all these other in ear/over the ear headphones. Someone show me a decent pair of headphones under $20 that make rap music sound good. Good does NOT equal LOUD. Bass and clarity are always lacking.
Edit: I chose the 2 pair i did after researching, and most of all, Long Term comfort.

i just use skullcandy ink'd
they're pretty good sound and quality and not expensive
and plus when they break u can send em back in to skullcandy and get online store credit

The latest versions of beats are not trash at all.

you must sadly have ears that can't distinguish flat sound and colored sound. Beats are very loud, warm, and colored. but very uncomfortable.
Bose and Sony are a little more accurate. A little flatter and a slightly truer representation of what the music is intended to sound like. And the noise canceling and comfort shyt on all other competition.

I ask because I recently bought some cheap $0.76 earbuds from a Chinese seller on eBay. They're HOT GARBAGE!!! All the earbuds I've ever bought from the dollar store over the years ABSOLUTELY shytS on these earbuds I bought from this Chinese eBay seller.
The audio on these earbuds sounds like the audio is being projected from my phone to the earbuds instead of the audio going from my phone through the the jack & wire into my earbuds.
What specs should I look for the next time I buy cheap earbuds/headphones brehs?
OK brehs, I FINALLY bought some more cheap earbuds from eBay the last couple days.
But this time I'm knowledgeable about what specs to look for after reading this article: (What do the Specs on Earbuds Mean?) and I used the specs for Sony, Panasonic, Phillips, & other name brand earbuds that were under $10 on Amazon.com to compare with.
I bought the following 3 earbuds each for $0.99:

2. 3.5mm Universal Headphone Earphone Headset for iPhone Samsung HTC Tablet Laptop
3. white EAR BUDS with mic ONLY 0.99 FREE SHIPPING
I received these 3 earbuds in the mail this week. I've only tried #2 so far. The first thing I immediately noticed when I used them is the sound is louder, cleaner, & clearer than the garbage AF $0.76 earbuds I complained about in the OP. So I'm satisfied & happy with these $0.99 earbuds I just bought.
