With a scale of 1-10 how would you rate Sabu in these categories:

-Mic work/promos

-Personality/gimmicks

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores)

Sabu is one of those dudes that I know is a legend but never really cared about. He was an innovator, had a distinct character, and I'm sure may even have some classic matches, but he's never really resonated with me, various other guys in ECW were more appealing, and Jeff Hardy took everything Sabu did and made it look better.

-Mic work/promos: He hardly talked, and when he did I don't think he ever cut a promo I remember: 1

-Personality/gimmicks: 8-His gimmick fit him to a T. Suicidal, Homicidal,Genocidal was exactly what he was.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds) 5- He could put on a passable match now and then. Feud with Taz was legendary.

-Overall rating: 5, and I'm being very generous.

My first impression of Sabu was this moment. :lolbron:

It's unfortunate that his legacy (to some people) is being known as the guy who botched a lot but I enjoy these threads because you get to see the other side of his legacy.

He's definitely an innovator but execution is one of the most important parts of wrestling. :ld:

He was a really good worker early on but relied too much on the trash ECW style.. promos are nil, ring work progressively got worse, but his gimmick was dope af. Always seemed like a legit maniac and probably was/is.

Overall - 4, and that's mainly off the strength of his gimmick

I'm not going to lie. I was a huge Sabu mark and forever will be a fan of dude.He brought that daredevil aspect to wrestling. Dude had the look of a broken soul that will destroy anything in his path. The fact that he never cut a promo, spoke (fukk you Vince), and just let his madness take over in matches makes him on my top ten list. The fukking man taped his torn bicep up during his barbed wire match with Terry Funk:picard:. Hell even his botches are godtier because dude did the shyt on purpose to damn near kill a wrestler.

Bottom line a strong 9 from me.

Lance Storm (or maybe it was Taz) claimed that Sabu would plan botched spots to add realism to the matches. Not sure how true that is though. :leostare:
