The Mark Helfrich era was one of the dumbest head coaching decisions in major college history.

Take a team that's been a NCG contender for three straight seasons and hand the reigns to a guy who had totally failed in his only previous head coaching stint.

Not only did the Ducks lose their best chance ever at a National Championship with peak Mariota, not only did they collapse immediately when Mariota left...

but when the greatest QB in the nation had a special connection to Oregon, wanted nothing more than to play for Oregon, was BEGGING for an offer from Oregon, had publicly said that he would commit to Oregon....Helfrich's dumb ass didn't recruit him.


Tua Tagovailoa should be an Oregon Duck right now and Chris Petersen should be his coach. I can't think of a stupider recruiting fail by any NCAA team in my entire life.
