They have one final four (vacated) and two elite eights (one vacated) in their entire history. Maybe they get lucky with a low level assistant but I doubt it. The Big 10 is way too strong for that.

They'd be selling themselves too short by keeping Tubby. At the end of the day, Tubby ain't shyt, and he didn't really do shyt while he was there, and that was when hiring Tubby Smith was a big deal.

They want Shaka but they probably won't get Shaka. They have a puncher's chance in doing so though. Having his old AD there helps. The Gophers will just settle for Flip Saunders I guess simply because Flip wants that job more than anyone and Fred Hoiberg won't leave his dream job.

Tubby failed on his own merit, not because of where he chose to coach. All Shaka would need to do is do what he's doing now at VCU and he'd be considered a saint out there. He can't do what he's doing now and get accolades at UCLA. It's Kentucky West with their delusions of grandeur.

Dan Monson and Tubby Smith had virtually the same Big Ten winning percentage. Tubby did an absolutely terrible job this season. The offense he runs was atrocious...and the biggest thing IMO is that not one player who he recruited got better under Tubby's tenure....except for Justin Cobbs and Colton Iverson....and they didn't get better until they transferred to Cal and Colorado State. In six years he didn't finish the Big Ten Season with a winning record once (Monson did twice with not even a third of the talent). Is there any school from a major conference in the country where this would be considered O.K.
