This mentality is what kept deflecting the Tulsa massacre out of the history books for over 75 years until the government couldn't anymore and offered compensation to keep people quiet.

OP has the right to talk about his own race and to address things that concern him and his well being.

"Stop making this a race issue" is something that I wouldn't expect someone who is Black to say. Living every day in America as a Black man is a "race issue".

The only reason the incident in Orlando is being called the "worst domestic terrorist attack in US history" is because the victims of this attack just so happened to be gay which will lead to discussions of a need to make strict laws to protect gays and of course the gun control conversation. Which is disturbing that gay adult lives are put above the lives of the children murdered in Sandy Hook.
