TUMS (Calcium Carbonate) is an antacid. Antacids adjust the Ph of the stomach and really potentiates salts such as hydrochlorides and sulfates. Also sometimes with benzos such as Zanax.

Benadryl is Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride so it was potentiated by the TUMS you took.

White Grape Fruit Juice does the same thing .which is why on certain medications it says

" Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice at any time while taking this medication"
