Yeah Pac and Em (hate if you want) are the only icons in hip hop outside of hip hop.

Straight Pop culture. How many people you see that get paid to dress up like Pac impersonators. Can't count how many times I've seen a Pac and Elvis look alike together.
Eminem straight up established a template for what hip hop should be.

Like when cultural outsiders evaluate hip hop as an artform/ way of life, they usually dont look past Eminem. Not that he was the greatest artist, or MC... but his story is the most accessible and easy to understand.

Same with Bob Marley and Reggae..

Tupac is on that level in terms of name recognition.. but mainstream america is conflicted over him ... people in this country dont know how to deal with his message and what he represented:yeshrug:

To keep it in retrospect as 90s yute:

John Lennon
Bob Marley
Michael Jackson
Michael Jordan
2Pac

people would argue Marilyn Manson or Kurt Cobaine, but I think that's a solid top 5 (John Lennon is immortal, he will be in the top 5 until 3014 :wow:)

Overall over the last century, I'd say top 10-15, and that's coming from a Pac fan.
