Tyrin Turner gave the greatest film performance in the history of movies. He should won the Oscar, everyone knows this. While I’m a huge Pac fan, he was not needed in this, as it’s proven to be the only true perfect movie in the history of movies. It was no way for it to be improved.

More than one actor auditions for roles. More than one actor gets hired or has lengthy discussions about roles.

You could write a pretty decent book about all the actors that passed up a role, got fired, passed over or missed out. The good ones are obviously iconic roles that they were like "man, I wish I did that" theres a couple that were glad they didn't do it.

I think Dave Chappelle was in talks to be Bubba in Forrest Gump.

There's dozens of these stories.

Hell all the buddy movies of the 90's (bad boys, men in black, rush hour, money talks, blue streak, wild wild west and others) at one point had different actors and different pairings.

So Tupac was a studio gangster, insecure, high maintenance woman because he wanted a backstory to the Muslim character they gave him? He wanted his character to have a backstory that included why his character turned Muslim etc. This story was told a million times by a million people.

He wanted to know what Sharif's motivation was supposed to be, like any actor.
He didn't understand how Sharif's character made sense...and you could understand that watching that movie.

You could almost take Sharif out of that movie and not much would change.
It didn't make sense for Sharif to kickin' it with them killers and kicking that "knowledge" chit
knowing gottdamn well they wasn't tripping off nothing he was saying. Pac was basically asking
"why should I play the one dude in this crew that doesn't fit?"

To Pac's credit, Shariff really was a thinly written character with no depth. If you isolate all of his scenes from the movie, they are all basically "but look in the Qoran it says" with the other characters rolling their eyes and not giving a shyt. The repetition and corny setup with no real payoff would have had to be frustrating for an actor tasked with bringing that character to life.

It got him killed. Pac had no business hanging around gang bangers and jumping crips. If he had lived, he’d be in the same place as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Diddy, Jay, and all of the others. He could have lived a long and happy life but choose to die over bullshyt.

His father said in the movie he used to get into a whole lot of shyt. So what happened that really changed him?

Did he go to juvenile/prison? Did he watch someone he cared about get murdered in front of him? Did he accidentally murder someone while trying to go after someone else?

We will never know.

I get it, but there's only so much time in a movie, and dude's character wasn't central enough to the story to spend time exploring his backstory.

And really, what I took from Eiht's comments is that Pac wanted a violent backstory for Sharif because the character otherwise just seemed goofy and tame in a movie where most of the characters were killers. He just didn't think it was a good look for him.

Same here. I wanted to know how deep it went with Shareef. And how it juxtaposed with actually having a solid father figure in his life(unlike slot of the bangers who didn't)and how and why he found the Nation instead of Christianity.
