A lot of goverment officials and Islamic figures around the country even as far as Aceh and South Sulawesi support these demonstrations even saying that Ahok should be jailed to set an example. Even Majelis Ulama Indonesia is calling for his arrest. This is clearly an racially charged effort to harm his chance in election next year.

What really make me angry is how some of these Islamic preachers have been saying extremely disrespectful things about other religions, the constitutions, president Jokowi, and other ethnic minorities, yet they remain untouched but Ahok make a statement to adress a quote from scripture that clearly discriminate against him and which he's already apologized yet the they all still out for his blood as if he's a war criminal.

Don't forget about racial angle. Apparently an unapologetic wanted war criminal like Prabowo could run as president and even got 46.85 percent of popular vote. But a Chinese and Christian minority wih clean criminal record like Ahok got attacked on all fronts for minor thing he already apologized for.

I especially can't stand that musician, Ahmad Dhani. His 13 year old son drove above speed limit in a car Dhani gave him for birthday and killed several people in crash and he used his money to buy his freedom yet now he act holier than thou toward Ahok who hasn't done anything like that.
