:mjpls: WWE had an inside guy in WCW, which is why WCW was sold for so little, but seems like nobody talks about that for some reason. :sas2:

I knew it. Its kind of strange nobody talks about this. Plus the sale seems illegal especially if your cancelling shows to scare off potential buyers.

Wcw and Ecw didnt have to die, Tommy dreamer said ECW were in negotiations with a network and almost had a deal but Heyman backed out and went to WWF. WCW could habe been saved with Bishoff selling the rights to a company and with a tv deal with FX but the AOL executive soled it to WWF for a cheaper price before the deal was made.

Bischoff was given time to find a TV deal before the sale to Vince. Probably a couple of weeks but still lol. Vince tried to get a deal for Nitro and keep WCW going and was rebuffed. The WCW brand was shot and stomped to death by that point. The TV network tommy was talking about was sports channel Ohio. Thatd be delaying the inevitable just like TNA and destination America.

The nub of Ryder's argument is that whatever Siegel's reasons for getting rid of WCW to WWF - "Siegel's actions weren't in the best interest of stockhoders..."

"How stupid do you have to be not to realize that it's a better business decision to take an offer of say $20 million with $5 million paid upfront in cash as opposed to a deal totalling $2.5 million that leaves you liable for $15 million in salary to people who will be sitting home taking paychecks for three years?"

"The way Brad Siegel handled the company was at best inept leadership. At worst it was criminal."

WCW gave Jerry Jarrett all the information he needed to make a bid but Jarrett was stonewalled by WCW. Ryder claims it wasn't Bischoff who did the stone walling.

"Early in the year, before Busch left...Jarrett was brought in to meet with Siegel. Several things were talked about, and Jarrett let Siegel know that he would be interested in buying the company if it ever ended up being put up for sale. When it became obvious that the company was going to be sold, several groups started trying to put deals together. ....Jarrett received virtually every important financial document needed to put his deal together, and still has those documents. My conversations with Jarrett were always along the lines of his wanting to make sure the company was bought by someone other than Vince McMahon. He [Jarrett] was stonewalled...but ultimately it was in favor of Vince McMahon, not Eric Bischoff. When Siegel pulled the trigger on the deal, he ended up blowing everyone else out of the water so McMahon was the only one who could buy it. Jarrett was being represented by one of the top investment bankers in the country, and Siegel refused to return his calls.
:beli: TV networks always have and will hate wrestling, no matter the business and fans it brings. :snoop: I could bet other execs and networks were clowning USA and TNT because of "wrassling". Wrestling is a niche and it won't ever get its due unfortunately or ever be accepted mainstream.

The TV networks follow the money. If wrestling became popular again they would change their stance quick.

Wrestling can bring in money but the problem is the average person thinks of WWE and their often inconsistent and bad product turns off potential viewers.

Any links to the Vince/Nitro story? cant find one. While the WCW brand was at its lowest they still had a couple million fans who never migrated to watching WWF so there was something there more than reviving ECW at least.

How can you use that example when the Authority angle has been :deadhorse::flabbynsick: for a while now?
shyt has been going on for 2 years straight now. If Rock vs. HHH is to happen at Mania next year(with HHH/Steph still in power) That will be almost 3 years this Authority story has been going. The Authority hasn't helped anyone.

Dolph Ziggler being the soul survivor at the Survivor Series against the Authority is pretty much forgotten about.

Brie was face, Nikki turned heel, seemingly Brie would take down Nikki but instead turned heel anyway even after all the abuse Stephanie gave her and Nikki attacking her.

AJ is gone after the teased physical encounters with Stephanie.

Daniel Bryan possibly retiring, already was over before the Authority began and Cena had already put him over at the 2013 Summerslam. 2013! They barely talk about it and act like Bryan vs. the Authority was his first big title win.

Cody Rhodes and Goldust are now in worse positions than they were since challenging the Authority and the tag title run.

Sting came in talking about taking them down, only to lose to HHH at Mania and stupidly shook the man's hand after the match.

The problem with Vince buying WCW is he is too complacent since there is no competition. The wrestling industry just keeps going farther down in terms of popularity. The WWE having a monopoly over the industry is bad because it makes it harder for another company to break through in the US. Plus the fans are not helping because they refuse to give any other company a chance just because it doesn't have the production values of the WWE.

Being the only game in town lets them keep wrestler salaries down and give more steady, predictable forecasts to stockholders

TNA killed themselves.

ECW killed itself by running into debt and not paying its talent

WCW is arguable since the network literally owned them, but they also were spending deep in the red even at their height, definitely by their end.

blame networks for irresponsible wrestling bookers/promoters/general incompetency brehs.

How is that a good thing for the business and the wrestlers? If salaries are low across the industry how do you expect more people to want to get involved in the business?

Sure its great for the suits at the WWE but for the wrestler who works all year long without breaks and sometimes with injuries its bad.
