here's an entire list.

https://www.deanza.edu/faculty/lewisjulie/The Black Male Privilege Checklist.pdf

the first 10/94.
  1. I don't have to choose my race over my sex in political matters.
  2. When I read African American History textbooks, I will learn mainly about black men.
  3. When I learn about the Civil Rights Movement & the Black Power Movements, most of the leaders that I will learn about will be black men.
  4. I can rely on the fact that in the near 100-year history of national civil rights organizations such as the NAACP and the Urban League, virtually all of the executive directors have been male.
  5. I will be taken more seriously as a political leader than black women.
  6. Despite the substantial role that black women played in the Civil Rights Movement and Black Power Movement, currently there is no black female that is considered a "race leader".
  7. I can live my life without ever having read black feminist authors, or knowing about black women's history, or black women's issues.
  8. I can be a part of a black liberation organization like the Black Panther Party where an "out" rapist Eldridge Cleaver can assume leadership position.
  9. I will make more money than black women at equal levels of education and occupation.
  10. Most of the national "opinion framers" in Black America including talk show hosts and politicians are men.
This is the best they could come up with?

I'm riding with uncle ruckus, not that no bammer weed type nikka
I agree and on top of that why a lot of these cats male/female are these down for the cause looking cats. Its really true oftentimes you can tell what a person probably into by how they look.

white people don't think they have privilege either.
Most of them don't. Unless you like being a groupie for whites they ain't go no damn privilege that's usable for most of them either that's why they where they are. Y'all cats act like all white people just got it made on easy street. Most are living just like we are. The top whites have privilege but the everyday whites we seeing yeah right. If they got privilege they sure ain't using it right.

Everyone has some kinda of privilege
Well if this is the case and I can agree with it whats the point of speaking on the next persons privilege? The only reason I can see is you're just trying to be greedy and take more privileges for yourself and or acting like a victim.

:russ:Lmfao @ arguing over who has it better.
Blk Male N female are both nikkas in captivity. the "who has more privilege" convo, is slave talk.

Our main convo's, should be on the topics of, rebuilding the blk family structure. rebuilding the blk community. self reliance and dependence from the dominant society and then, protecting what we then established .
After we have our own system, and our own power structure in place. only then, we can discuss privilege, And the distribution of power within OUR own structure.:sas2:
Right now, y'all just talking to janitors about some ceo stuff, cause nikkas don't run shyt.

Living under a white supremacist power structure, where blk men are emasculated. nikkas only privileges are, too make rap songs, get k.o's, shoot balls, hit home runs, score touch down, and goals. :flabbynsick:

Have your oppression make the news every week, but rather talk about privelege breh.:snoop:

I read through some of the list and have to disagree. Its interesting that the author is blaming black men - tone wise yet black people for the most part have zero control over the textbooks that are put in schools by white people. YET, when you go to a book store, look online for books, peer reviewed articles/journals, newspapers saved for research, and etc you will see that there are a lot of black women who spoken about throughout history whether it be concerning civil rights, education, STEM fields, arts, and beauty.
Another point that caught my interest is the black men defining beauty standards. I say its interesting because a lot of black women do not acknowledge how black women impact black beauty standards. Let's not act as if we have never seen a black mother call her child's her too nappy. I used to work in a beauty department store and most of our clients were women. Sometimes men came in. In my whole experience there I only saw one black man speak disparingly towards kinky hair. He is an older black man (about 50+) who came in for an S-curl because he didn't want his hair to be too "nappy". I heard and saw a lot of dad stuff sad about black hair by black women. My coworker (a black Jamaican woman with and AA father) told me herself that she foes not want her child to have n!gger hair, but instead curly hair. The young woman truly believed that she has "Good hair", when in fact she had the same kinky hair. Yes there are black men that are color struck. At the same time we rarely acknowledge the hurtful stuff black women say concerning skin color and hair texture and eye color. At my mans job one one of the managers have light hazel eyes /light skin and the black women there go crazy over him even though he is known player and already has two kids by two different women. When I first told my guy that he has nice eyes and skin he thought I was colors truck because he has light brown eyes and light skinned. Instead I was saying that he has soft handsome eyes and he has clear soft skin.

Sorrybforbtge long reply. I was just trying to get my point across.

It's just about recognizing your privilege and using it in positive way. For example, able-bodied people respecting handicapped parking and bathroom stalls, making sure things are accessible for the disabled. Putting ramps and elevators in public and government buildings. Or using your privilege to educate others in your privilege group about the underprivileged becaused privilege people don't usually look past their privilege or recognize when others are underprivileged. Ex. White folks are more likely to listen to other white folks explain privilege. They usually feel attacked or dismissive when a minority/PoC calls them out.

I think someone describe this phenomenon as the oppression olympics. People racing to be at the bottom of the social barrel so they can bytch at someone one layer above them.

This is what I think of when I hear all this whining about privilege

This shyt will turn into another thread about how black women are actually the ones with privilege. How would we grow as a community when we are always fighting against each other. I don't know why nikkas like to make these type of bait threads when this discussion has came up a thousand times. How do you nikkas expect to lead when you act and argue like bytches over trivial topics? When will the day come where we would put in this much effort in finding solutions that plagues Black America? Instead of arguing about the right to Pawg, the right to have a preference for lighter skin women, "bedwenches", and "hair hats". Some of you are fukked for life. Will spend your life being emasculated fakkits.
