uhh no, it is not jealousy. your privilege showing. don't dismiss my complaints as a bw. you should pay attention because i as a black person know what it feels like to NOT have privilege, so it makes sense that i can recognize not having the privileges another group has. you as a black person are not used to it, so you won't be aware to recognize when you have it.

and yes, it does translate into tangible things. you have white friends who can hook you up with jobs. i've seen it happen
.

why don't the stats reflect this?

Young Black Males' Well-Being Harmed More by Unemployment
For black men, a permanent recession

if all things equal, you're a fool if you think white men wouldn't prefer to have a nice lil bedwench in their office over a black man

Bottom line

Bm has the biggest disadvantage in America

If you disagree ur an a$$hole and a idiot

They will hire a bw before a bm

That's funny I know plenty of brothers in the mechanical trades (electrical, plumbing, engineers etc) and almost zero women.

This is what People are talking about. You are so busy being a victim that you forget about the natural advantages that you DO have.

how many female engineers let alone blk female eng's have you come across at school?
how many black females do you know that want to be plumbers or electricians. STOP FRONTING.

The answer is a minimal amount

I do not know ONE CHICK who has ever pursued welding, electrical, plumbing or carpentry. NOT ONE. And the two-three black female engineers I have met are currently working at fortune 500s. Here is two of them

I think that the best way to determine whether one is more/less privileged than someone else is to ask yourself whether you'd rather be in their shoes or not. As a black female, I really wouldn't want to be in a black man's shoes with the way that they're being treated in society. However, it's up to us black women to stand up for black men (and vice versa) rather than to undermine their struggles.
When the doors close, who is more likely to be beaten to death in the home, black men or women? Who is more likely to be raped? Who is more likely to be excluded from the decision making? Who is more likely to be abandoned to raise the children? When the doors are open, who is more likely to be told their gender makes them unfit for leadership? Who is more likely to have their voice marginalized? Who is more likely to have important aspects of their healthcare coverage revoked? Whose reproductive system is up for debate? Based on the posts in this thread and the result of the poll, there is no way I would advise my sister or female friends in good conscience to put their issues aside for the betterment of black men.

Black men were given the right to vote a full 50 years before black OR white women :sas2:

No one is saying that black women should put aside their issues for black men. In fact, I stated in the post that you quoted that both black men and women should be supporting each other. I could state a number of ways in which black men have it worse than black women but I won't as that only helps to separate us from each other. Yes, both black men and women are maltreated in Western societies, however, one only has to look at the mortality rates for young black men and women to see which issue is the most pressing concern for the wider black community.

black women having a higher enrollment in college isn't a legitimate example of privilege? Ya'll use stuff like that all the time to prove white privilege

Whites showing employment bias toward black women over black men isn't an real example of privilege?
ABA Focus Volume XIII, Number 2 -- Gender, Race and Affirmative Action

come with numbers to prove your points, instead of preaching what your college sociology prof and twitter/tumblr feminist indoctrinated into you.

Like it's not even the idea of black males having privilege that bothers me, it's the fact that the second you suggest black women also have a certain level of privilege you've said something foul.

Everything that a black man achieves in relation to black women is due to privilege, but everything black women achieve over black men is due to black women just being awesome "get your shyt together black men"
