And at least two of out three of those games are often lauded upon on here or have been on the old boards, so I imagine most have/do play those types of games. I know I do.

You can look at the awards and acclaim that they receive and see that they aren't bad games but they are niche games that have vocal fan bases. It sounds like this works for you. The only one I do rock with is metroid of the games I mentioned and we haven't seen a console metroid in 11 years. Samus is chilling with Captain Falcon, watching all the other franchises go next. Metroid doesn't sell like Nintendo wants it to. I like civilization games, I know that ain't for everyone. I just think that the okie doke is being pulled here.

I think with the resurgence of indie games on console that the roguelike genre is blowing up again. People were celebrating when it was rumored that Hades was coming to gamepass

Kind of like how the entire concept of metroidvanias were brought back with stuff like hollowknight and Ori

This being the first AAA version of a roguelike means its in uncharted territory like demons souls originally was and the remake is for the new generation. It’s gonna get a lot of people into the genre and its gonna get a lot of people mad that they spent 70 dollars on it

While I get the gist of most of what you're saying, I don't see how there's any "okie doke" being pulled here. This game sounds like one of the more clearly, next gen games, which some gamers claim to be starved for, so folks singing high praises of it being among the first that fills that presumed void, I don't think are simply hype boasting. But yeah, at the end of the day, most games aren't just for everyone. Kinda goes without saying tho.

Yeah, I stopped being excited for Resident Evil after 4. Last one I played thru to completion was Code Veronica. I didn't like the change of style it went thru with 4. Tho I did like the RE1 remake on Gamecube and technically beat it (from playing from mid-way point on my homie's save file, as I didn't own a GC).

Backwards compatibility is nice but eventually you’re gonna want a game that shows off features specific for the next gen console you bought.
