The mods/owner might need to take that whole thread down, TBH, not just because of this whole ordeal, but for numerous reasons.

Overnight, I thought about it, that thread is pretty unethical and devoid of any self-awareness. I mean, in theory, the words “morally obligated” sound creepy, not intentionally, but y'know the “optics”, a lot can be interpreted by those words, especially considering the context of that thread.
