And he took a chance and dropped it directly after his acclaimed debut. Had an unconventional lead single singing "I love myself" and embraced a jazz/neo soul sound in the middle of a sea of trap production. He might not be the perfect messenger, but when he has a chance to represent, you clearly can tell where his intentions and efforts are. Some are allowed to take pics in blackface and placate to tik tok trends when its their turn on the mic, yet someone who at least tries to use their platform in an uplifting manner for the community is the one that gets nitpicked over all because he didn't tweet. Weird times.

:mjlol:y'all making too many excuses and hate accountability. If she is talking about Kendrick, he has nothing to lose and everything to gain from talking. This man dropped TPAB and y'all called it Album on the decade, and excusing him from making any comments about the topic matter discussed in the album.

He's an artist. He should speak through his art.

On matters of politics, civil rights, and social justice I'd rather hear from activists and people whose life work revolves around these issues.

That's like wanting to hear from Cosby and Sydney Portier instead of Malcolm and Martin.

He gonna drop an album about the topic like 4 years later :mjlol:
When is your idol Aubrey gonna make a statement about it?
When is Aubrey gonna make a song that speaks on this?
When is Aubrey going to make music that has substance instead of simp anthems and thot music?

I don’t expect anything from entertainers. Especially Kendrick. He said he doesn’t read books and was also told not to talk about politics in any of his interviews so he won’t fukk up the money.

:stopitslime: You can put out work and talk about things that need to be discussed like a bunch of artists that have already said something. Y'all need to expect better.

Yea he has gave back to his community and others.

The Compton, CA bred rapper has always stayed local, and cared about the growth of music and education. In 2013, he gave his high school a $50,000 to help improve their music facilities. Overall, Kendrick Lamar has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Compton’s school district’s sports, after-school, music and other programs. On top of all that, he’s also donated and worked with Compton and other local charities. KDot won an award from the California State Senate in 2015 for his community work

Activism & Charity: The Many Ways Kendrick Lamar Gives Back

people pick and choose when they wanna cancel and get mad at people for saying dumbass dangerous rhetoric which is why kendrick got a pass, wayne continues to get a pass despite showing he doesnt give a shyt about black peoples plight because a white officer saved his life 30 years ago, and travis scott got a pass for justifying mike browns death

but let somebody they dislike be the topic at hand and the tone of this thread would be a lot different

now nikkas acting like using their platform to share resources and bring awareness is suddenly pointless because "real g's move in silence" and "what is kendrick tweeting gonna do"
more on this?
