Kendrick is already someone who barely goes online, not everything needs to be on social media

People also need to stop caring about celebrities, they beg for celebs to say something and some have (said dumb shyt) and then get mad at them

Yep.

Kendrick Lamar weighs in on Ferguson: "When we don't have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us?"

I wish somebody would look to our neighborhood knowing that it’s already a situation, mentally, where it’s f——— up. What happened to [Michael Brown] should’ve never happened. Never. But when we don’t have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us? It starts from within. Don’t start with a rally, don’t start from looting — it starts from within.

I look at those comments like I look at the ones from Shameik and Lil Wayne.

Good intentions but ill informed.

You NEVER EVER compare Black On Black violence to police brutality, which at its heart is simply white supremacy.

HOWEVER

If I take Kendrick Lamar by the message in his music, I separate him a bit from those two because it seems as if Kendrick (judging by To Pimp A Butterfly) has been DEEPLY affected by the gang violence in his community. Seeing black men senselessly kill one another over gangs, sets, and colors, I can understand why he’d want to speak out on what he says is a “fukked up mindset” try to speak on it.

His mistake again, was doing so in relation to police murdering young black men

I don’t expect anything from entertainers. Especially Kendrick. He said he doesn’t read books and was also told not to talk about politics in any of his interviews so he won’t fukk up the money.
he dont read books like Kanye ? i thought he read some, hence why he brought up "Democrips" and "Rebloodicans" in his music.

he doesnt come across as a guy who reads a whole lot. But him not reading at all? hmm didnt expect that.

Cole always pulls up, respect to him for that. Anyone who doubts him dont know his history

He's an artist. He should speak through his art.

On matters of politics, civil rights, and social justice I'd rather hear from activists and people whose life work revolves around these issues.

That's like wanting to hear from Cosby and Sydney Portier instead of Malcolm and Martin.

They actually put in work for black folks though and civil rights and social justice are the purview of many not just a few, this post reeks of shut up and dribble, if I have misunderstood your post my bad.

But saying you only want to hear from people who make it their life work is asinine as it takes a village.
