The fact that this thread is still going, including a return of deranged posting from resident Kdot hater/stalker @bigbadbossup2012 is pretty hilarious. Goal posts keep moving. Take the L and shut the fukk up.

Brehs really out here hating on the guy who released an album about...black self love, colorism, and survivor's guilt in inner cities. Brehs can't even say "I don't fukk with the music but I respect that he's not rapping about bullshyt." It would be far easier to make your points if you left the weirdo personal shyt out of it.

I remember i pointed out how in Kendrick's bio, they said he was the "evolution of 2pac" sucka shyt like that. When he's actually a meek scary nikka will never reach pac's noteriety.

i think your doing to much in this thread, kendrick is kendrick and he aint a nikka to expect some pro black leadership out of. leave him be

But no lie, you gotta point here with this post:ehh:
I have no problem with kendrick being exactly what he is. Everybody has their style of artistry. But when he cites nwa, Pac etc as influence and even goes as far as acting as if he's a cotinuation of Pac (via saying Pac came to him in a dream and also mortal man interview shyt) and you're not even attempting to speak freely and unapologetically on some real shyt. You deserve to be called out. That nikka is fakin Jax as we used to call it.

Everything i accused him of is true. It's not hate, it's real nikka shyt. And naw i don't respect him cause he's nothing like and clearly afraid to be anything like the nygga he pretends to uphold. I didn't tell him to use v Pac the way he has, HE DID THAT. He should of just been comfortable being what he is. He forced the comparison (which would never happen organically) and he not only doesn't compare, but also carries himself like a scary ass nikka that isn't in the same class at all.

Every rapper compares himself to Pac in various ways. Why you have selected Kendrick of all people to take the most offense to this is beyond me, but admittedly pretty funny.

Does Kendrick remind me of Pac, personally? No...at least not in the ways you're referencing. I think they were somewhat similar writers when it comes to personal, poetic lyricism, but I think Kendrick is closer to Nas when it comes to writing style (specifically, evocative lyricism). Like Pac he finds a way to create characters and faces within his rhymes, give them depth, and then step back from himself and empathize with them.

In terms of Pac the militant though...what exactly did Pac advocate for? Pac himself said he was scared when he felt black people were looking to him for a plan...and he didn't have one. That's not a criticism of Pac. He was a natural leader who unfortunately didn't have enough time to hone a message beyond some boiler plate, standard 90s rap shyt (fukk the police, black people should stop killing each other, gangs should unify, etc). I'm an adult...I don't look to rappers for political or community leadership. I have no issue with Pac's "message" being contradictory or muddied because that's what you expect from a rapper trying to appeal to various groups at once.

In terms of Kendrick's "message" I'd argue he's an entirely different writer and thinker. He obviously has similar views as Pac when it comes to those standard 90s rapper views...but for the most part Kendrick does not give answers. Like any good writer, he's not telling you what to think. He examines himself and his neighborhood+community, and leaves the rest to you.

If all kendrick does is make songs about shyt in the same vein what exactly should he say... he been talking when nobody else wasn't...

I personally am not looking for celebrities to say shyt... if it comes across my feed or i see it on this site then cool but I'm not actively searching for "jcoles opinion on the death of George floyd"

Kendrick is one of many whom claim to be influenced by PAC, true. The reason I have a MAJOR problem with HIM, are as follows :
Unlike many other Pac disciples, I can listen to kendrick via interview or music and see clear as day that he's not free speaking man. He's a mouse. I can tell when someone is carefully not taking a hard line stance on virtually anything. That's not a Pac type nikka, not a cube type nikka, not an ice t or krs type nikka. EVEN people like t. I., trick daddy, master p, etc regardless of talent level whatever, they're stand up and say how they feel.
And I'm fine with that, but don't waive that PAC flag of your a scary vague mf. Cause you're fronting.
Also on the now defunct bio via kendricklamar's actual website, they outlined how he was an evolution of Pac , pointing out seemingly flaws that Pac had, that kendrick seemingly patched up and improved pass Pac with. TOTAL DISRESPECT.

I don't think he's like Pac or Nas.

This isn't about Pac, kendrick or anyone having some master plan figured from a-Z. This is about dudes being stand up free speaking nikkas with no fukks given, it doesn't even have to be something I agree with.
This is about dudes giving their world view, opinion, stance etc. And kendrick is a nikka whom clearly watches his mouth. Says a bunch of poetic gibberish, that weak minded people credit as "lyrics".
Which is cool, BUT stop waiving that flag like you one of them other nikkas, cause you're not.
And I'm not looking for no leader in rap, I'm 40+. I'm just calling a spade a spade.

Pac and others of his ilk, voice how they feel, where they stand, what they like and don't, what they have a problem with, yes they also do poetic shyt, imaginative shyt etc too, but you get to know them. Kendrick is a careful I don't wanna upset - - - - - type nikka.
And that's cool too, but stop fronting.

Kendrick performed these lyrics on top of a beat up police car at the bet awards so he could posture himself as a rider type nikka. Please tell me is this some rider type shyt or poetic gibberish:

Alright
Kendrick Lamar
Alls my life I has to fight, nikka
Alls my life I
Hard times like, yah!
Bad trips like, yah!
Nazareth, I'm fukked up
Homie, you fukked up
But if God got us then we gon' be alright
nikka, we gon' be alright
nikka, we gon' be alright
We gon' be alright
Do you hear me, do you feel me? We gon' be alright
nikka, we gon' be alright
Huh? We gon' be alright
nikka, we gon' be alright
Do you hear me, do you feel me? We gon' be alright
Uh, and when I wake up
I recognize you're lookin' at me for the pay cut
But homicide be looking at you from the face down
What MAC-11 even boom with the bass down
Schemin'! And let me tell you bout my life
Painkillers only put me in the twilight
Where pretty p*ssy and Benjamin is the highlight
Now tell my mama I love her but this what I like
Lord knows, twenty of 'em in my Chevy
Tell 'em all to come and get me, reapin' everything I sow
So my karma come in heaven, no preliminary hearings on my record
I'm a motherfukking gangster in silence for the record, uh
Tell the world I know it's too late
Boys and girls, I think I gone cray
Drown inside my vices all day
Won't you please believe when I say
Wouldn't you know
We been hurt, been down before, nikka
When our pride was low
Lookin' at the world like, "Where do we go, nikka?"
And we hate po-po
Wanna kill us dead in the street for sure, nikka
I'm at the preacher's door
My knees gettin' weak and my gun might blow
But we gon' be alright
nikka, we gon' be alright
nikka, we gon' be alright
We gon' be alright
Do you hear me, do you feel me? We gon' be alright
nikka, we gon' be alright
Huh? We gon' be alright
nikka, we gon' be alright
Do you hear me, do you feel me? We gon' be alright
What you want you, a house? You, a car?
40 acres and a mule? A piano, a guitar?
Anything, see my name is Lucy, I'm your dog
Motherfukker, you can live at the mall
I can see the evil, I can tell it I know when it's illegal
I don't think about it, I deposit every other zero
Thinkin' of my partner put the candy, paint it on the regal
Diggin' in my pocket ain't a profit, big enough to feed you
Everyday my logic, get another dollar just to keep you
In the presence of your chico ah!
I don't talk about it, be about it, everyday I see cool
If I got it then you know you got it, Heaven, I can reach you
Pat Dawg, Pat Dawg, Pat Dawg, my dog, that's all
Bick back and Chad, I trap the bag for y'all
I rap, I black on track so rest assured
My rights, my wrongs, I write 'til I'm right with God
Wouldn't you know
We been hurt, been down before, nikka
When our pride was low
Lookin' at the world like, "Where do we go, nikka?"
And we hate po-po
Wanna kill us dead in the street for sure, nikka
I'm at the preacher's door
My knees gettin' weak and my gun might blow
But we gon' be alright
nikka, we gon' be alright
nikka, we gon' be alright
We gon' be alright
Do you hear me, do you feel me? We gon' be alright
nikka, we gon' be alright
Huh? We gon' be alright
nikka, we gon' be alright
Do you hear me, do you feel me? We gon' be alright
I keep my head up high
I cross my heart and hope to die
Lovin' me is complicated
Too afraid of a lot of changes
I'm alright and you're a favorite
Dark nights in my prayers
I remembered you was conflicted
Misusing your influence, sometimes I did the same
Abusing my power full of resentment
Resentment that turned into a deep depression
Found myself screamin' in the hotel room
I didn't wanna self destruct, the evils of Lucy was all around me
So I went runnin' for answers
