These two bozos aren't doing shyt. Twitter won't fully die until they ban porn. Threads won't take off all the way bc they don't allow porn.
As long Threads bans nudity, they should be good. Those IG ho3s been eating by doing bikini scads pics and videos with the links in bio for years now.

Threads already has over 95 million posts

The Instagram-based app launched on Wednesday night and had activated more than 30 million profiles by Thursday morning.

Instagram’s new Threads app seems like it could be a hit. Mark Zuckerberg said that the app has more than 30 million sign-ups as of Thursday morning, and people who are checking it out are posting... er, threading... a lot, too. According to internal data I’ve seen, there have already been more than 95 million posts and 190 million likes shared.

All that has happened in less than 24 hours. The app launched Wednesday evening on iOS and Android (significantly earlier than the original Thursday launch time), and a lot of people are checking it out; it’s currently the top free app on the App Store.

There’s still a lot missing from Threads. You can’t delete your Threads account without deleting your Instagram account, for example, and the app doesn’t have features like DMs, a reverse-chronological following feed, or a planned integration with the decentralized ActivityPub protocol. But these launch numbers point to a promising start for Meta’s new Twitter competitor.

Now, we’ll have to wait and see if people stick around.

Tinfoil time but doesn't anyone suspect this was a play from the jump to send all the traffic to a competitor by nuking the original platform.

This isn't something I keep up with, nor pay anything but scant attention based on what I read here mainly but it all reeks of bread and circuses. From the numerological antics with the whole 444 timing (= $$$ which is exactly what it was as an overvalued asset) and the mishandling which makes people say "Ha ha! Musk is teh stoopid. Lolz!" when in reality he is playing with house money anyway as the government gave him all that cash. Add in the fight and you're straight into Idiocracy territory but people don't seem to draw the links.

Flip it:

If none of this happened people would never throw most of the nets traffic into the hands of federal agent Zuckerberg would they? And yet, now they have a story that makes them feel good, they frame it as a W when in reality they've been manipulated into a course of action via the good old Hegelian Dialect. Not a mention of this monopolization move par excellence anywhere.

One hand washes the other, both wash the face... You know whos money put all this into play back when, yes? As well as what a "Book of Faces" is originally?

Nahh Elon and zuck genuinely don’t like each other. Zuckerberg had a concept for satellite internet which could have been a competitor to starlink (either though starlink as a concept is stupid as fukk and would never work)

He used Elon‘s company spacex and the completely destroyed the satellite costing Zuckerberg over $200 million

Once threads matures and liberals flock to it, MAGA will follow suit because their life and entire existence is meaningless without liberals to harrass and spew their bile at online. That is why I believe threads will succeed and possibly overtake twitter.

It already has 30 million registered users, crazy numbers
This is all facts.

Threads TOS is the same as Instagram, so porn will never be allowed on the platform, but that won't stop the platform from growing. Unless Jack makes an announcement on when Bluesky will be available to the general public, them hoes better start making an Mastodon account while they got the chance because no one knows when Bluesky will be available to everybody.

I think it's gonna end up being a situation where the normal (ie no sex workers, no far right wingers, no perpetually 24/7 political) people will be on Threads. Twitter will be a lot of white guys, lots of right wing content, porn, and hyper political content. Bluesky will essentially be like 2011 era Twitter, lots of cool people clowning anyone who gets too serious.

You know how when there's a wild police chase and you turn on your local ABC/NBC news station for the first time all year to peep it? That's basically what Twitter will be. Folks will flock back every now and then for a massive event, like the Super Bowl or a presidential election. But most of the convos will be on Threads, and very normie friendly.

this is why i think the activitypub/mastodon integration is crucial for them. porn can be hosted on other mastodon instances and Thread users can engage with those adult communities which makes it easier for META to filter out from teh timeline and sell as a safe platform for advertisers.

it's like if Instagram users could have been able to reply and follow twitter sex-worker users.. if META pulls it off, this might be the model for other social media companies to follow.
