No it doesn't necessarily solve any actual problems at this moment, but the day should be recognized.

Slavery built this country and propped up capitalism , and American companies should recognize that.

Cool and all but How many black employees does twitter have?

How many black applicants do they have?

It's deeper than just a company hiring black people because of systemic racism a lot of black people don't even get the chance to go to college and/or even put themselves in a position to apply for a company such as Twitter.
