I'm obviously not of that era/generation, but this thread is seriously the first time I've ever heard Fruity Loops associated with Soulja Boy.

Whereas literally the ONLY thing I think about when I hear Fruity Loops is 9th Wonder.

I hated that shyt back then and still despise those "drums". But I was amazed at the handful of what I thought were legit bangers he was able to make using only that program.

Soulja Boy is essentially a functioning retard who accidentally stumbled upon a hit during a horrible time in mainstream hip hop. If he had any impact or popularized something it's not a good thing.

So 9th Wonder made it respectable and Soulja Boy made it look too easy/opened a door for other people who wanted to become famous instead of making good music

doesn't have to be mutually exclusive.

9th kind of gave up-and-coming producers the blueprint of how to make Fruity Loops a powerful DAW. But 9th was def more underground then. He wasn't front and center in ways Tim, Kanye, Dre, and others were.

I think what made Soulja Boy special is that he brought FL Studio mainstream and it gave a lot of young and upcoming producer hopefuls (even myself) that you can make beats at home. There's the commercial aspect to this that can't be ignored.

I think both played a role.

Such a dumb argument.

They BOTH made FL software mainstream collectively because only hip-hop heads and enthusiast knew or cared about what 9th was using and Soulja covered the other side of the spectrum by simply becoming a viral sensation.

But the purist still looked down on the DAWs in that era and for a while afterwards, so neither made it acceptable.

I think this entire thread is glossing over something

They had the trial version of Fruity Loops on SCHOOL computers

So that whole era of finding flash games online during class, or playing that Halo trial version the whole classroom could play multiplayer on, also had nikkas seeing Fruity Loops for the first time, you didn't have to know who 9th or Soulja Boi were :francis: :manny: let alone wondering what production software they were using, maybe older nikkas were but a average 12-15 year old wasn't thinking about no damn DAW.

You just seen the fruity loop icon on your computer screen and got curious

Nikkas didn't know 9th used Fruity Loops till like 2012:mjlol:

Nikkas knew about Fruity Loops before Soulja Boy during mid 2000s school years, to be honest Soulja happened to be one of them school nikkas that just capitalized the most

Both played a role if we are being honest. 9th amongst hiphop heads and Soulja amongst hitmaking producers who wanted to do mainstream work. Both played a very big part.

Definitely not this nikka, it was literally being said in real time when 9th and LB came onto the scene and that was a whole decade earlier

You're leaving out all the young nikkas in school that wanted to rap
