9th Wonder. Was doing it years earlier and was doing it for Jay-Z on Fruity Loops years earlier.

Also people never looked at Soulja Boy as a producer in the same way they looked at 9th as a producer, even if that's arguably a little bit unfair to Soulja Boy.

9th was the guy that made other producers realize they didn't need fancy hardware or even a fancy studio. 9th was the first bedroom producer and arguably the first grassroots producer of the internet era.

Nikkas didn't know 9th used Fruity Loops till like 2012:mjlol:
This is not true even a little bit. Sorry. In 2012 he wasn't even using fruity loops anymore and switched to the MPC in 2008. I remember pics all over the internet in 2003 of him making beats on a PC. There were lots of interviews with him after he got hos black album placement and tons of articles on hiphopsite.com and lots of other OG websites like hiphopdx.com and allhiphop.com and all those message boards about him using FL Studio.

People would never have seen him making beats on Fruity Loops in 2012 because he stopped doing it 4 years earlier. On the Buckshot Formula album (2008) he started using the MPC.

9th honestly never used Fruity Loops for nearly as long as people think he did. He's been doing way more beats on hardware than software at this point.

Sooooo is this 9th’s whole catalog vs Crank Dat? I mean wasn’t 9th around years before SB? Didn’t he have a placement on an important Jay Z album before we knew who SB was? I mean I’m no 9th Stan or anything and I have a love hate relationship with a lot of his beats but come on now lol. You can give him his props.
Yeah bro 9th made a fukking Destiny's Child single on Fruity Loops which wasn't a small song

9th legitimized FL for sure. No way around it. He was doing bangers for big names like Jay and Destiny's Child before Soulja even dropped his first hit record. That being said. Soulja Boy made it MAINSTREAM popular to where basically everyone knew what it was who wasn't even interested in production.

I gotta disagree because a lot of "real rap" fans hated on 9th's sound in real time, specifically his drums. And they blamed Fruity Loops, called it lazy, etc.

Soulja made FL pop off and got a bunch of young producers to use it.

It was mixed. The main people who hated was cats who was really loyal to analog. But there was def more people who were impressed he was even doing that with FL. I remember clearly cause I was producing and djing in that time frame as well.
