still illegal, can't execute an incapacitated person in the heat of the moment.
Dude was probably already dead at that point. If they prove the final shot was post mortem there will be no claiming he fear for his life from a dead body.

I didn't realize it until the end when they showed the ring footage

There was a lot of bad decisions made by everyone and I'm sure if they could go back they would do it all differently. Ignoring noise complaints, Kicking the door, a woman arguing with a man, holding scissors to a mans throat, distracting your man from an immediate threat, Executing 2 people in cold blood... Lots of bad choices were made here. And her son only came out when she went out to argue with the guy by herself. It's natural instinct to protect his mother but if she stayed inside her son would have too or would have been back far enough out of harms way.

Just the fact that the killer made multiple noise complaints to the police about them lets me know he's not just a cold blooded killer. Or else he woulda done this a long time ago. Seems like he tried for years to handle this without confrontation. But he finally got fed up. This is how quickly things happen. Most shootings happen off impluse and emotions. Plenty of dudes in prison or in the grave right now because they let their egos get the best of em in the heat of the moment.
