i got my first DUI driving from a party at UCONN
i wasnt even bent
i got pulled over

He's saying by the time you're drunk, you're not rational enough to call an uber. So unless you're dead set on leaving at a certain time(which most people aren't) you can't have an uber sit outside all night waiting for you.

driving drunk increases the chance you will have an accident. 1/3 of traffic fatalities each year are due to drunk driving

Speeding, running red lights, unsafe lane changes, etc also increases the chance of accidents yet we don't criminalize those people and put ugly marks on the record that can hinder their employability or even make them unemployable in certain fields.

Driving under the influence should definitely be discouraged but I fail to see why it is so emphasized while other forms of unsafe driving are ignored.
