Because patriarchy dictates that the MAN provides, not the woman.

I don't know what feminists are trying to do with patriarchy, but I'm good with it.

Patriarchy is no more. It's been destroyed. This age is all about equality. Women make more money, now it's time to take the helm and that may mean paying the majority of bills.

If its been established that black men make more money then black women, why do y'all have this idea that marrying your male counterparts are a class down from y'all?

Y'all earn less and have more debt than black men so what is this level y'all be talking about? just degrees?

Yes. It’s all about aesthetic.
It’s like when teachers tell unruly students that they’ll be a garbage man, but fail to mention the garbage man makes more money than the teacher.
The illusion of elitism.

Tell me how y'all would feel about this, and be honest:

Oprah or Beyonce or Michelle Obama uses her platform to say "Listen. Black men are typically more fit and easygoing than black women. Black men want fit and feminine and friendly but the reality is, your soulmate may be overweight and have an attitude because black women go through a lot. It's okay. Choose her anyway because love is all that matters."

Y'all cosigning that or nah?

More women than men in the world so this one is hard to make fly

People overuse the term "settling". Settling is if a 5 star recruit in football picks a lesser school like Western Michigan when he has offers from Bama or Georgia. When folks "settle" for something, you pick a lesser option when you actually QUALIFY for better options. And those options come quickly too.

If you out here waiting 5, 10, 15 years and that better option ain't came yet, then you clearly don't qualify for them. Water finding its own level isn't "settling".
This.

this is confusing...

the pool of men make more than women on average...

but women are complaining about downgrading lifestyle?

seems like the real issue is that anything other than an "upgrade" is settling...

it's gotta be easy as hell to find somebody making the same money as you... from a pool of people that make more than you.

:patrice:
if I have to listen to another average woman talking about "lifestyle" :mjlol:
living in a room in your sisters house or a studio apartment with 3 roommates, racking up credit card debt because "i travel/my lifestyle" :mjlol:
average women out here talking "lifestyle" like they Diana Ross :mjlol:
I'm glad I came up in the era that I did and I can disarm this garbage from women as soon as I hear it:mjlol:

if a high earning woman doesnt have the characteristics to attract a high earning man...

(from a pool of high earning men that outnumber her and her peers)

is getting a lower earning man even settling?

or is it just accepting her place?
This has been the point that I stand on whenever i hear ANYONE talk about how they are "settling".
There is no such thing as settling. You just arent as valuable as your ego would have you to believe.
If you could get better, then you would have better. You didnt settle. You played in the wrong bracket.

Tyler Perry said high earning black women should marry men who can only pay a bill or two. That is marrying down. That's what I'm talking about here.
i didn't watch this video

but this delusional increasingly common idea so many high earning black women have about black men is annoying. Women believe a degree and w-2 makes them a higher class than their brothers, fathers, and cousins. I have a postgraduate degree and even many of my smart black women peers think like this.
Black women are some of the poorest, unhealthiest, debt burden people in this country. y'all should not be talking about levels and class.

Education is key. Degrees are great (i have two).

but that doesn't make me automatically better than someone with none or one.
