Ya'll are too easily impressed. He did this album before.

The production is creative. Def a step above what's being done right now...but c'mon.

I only checked it because I browsed light through this thread. I thought I was going to really hear something crazy. Drama adds some nice nostalgia too, but is it nostalgia for nostalgia's sake?

It's cool...ya'll hyping this up OD like ya'll never heard good music before
:comeon:

Some people like myself aint listen to Tyler in 10 years when he was picking his boogers and flicking them, so this was dope :manny:

Tyler is the closest thing to a Kanye in this generation

he's creative as hell

Tyler > Ye

More consistent and is actually still making his own beats. I'd put Tyler's production against anybody's. If anyone has done better in terms of creativity and growth over the course of his career I can't think of them.

nikkas said Tyler greater than Kanye West. Lmao

the recency bias on this website never ceases to amaze me. You nikkas completely overreact to everything new, and once he does his lil 180k and the next big album rolls around, y’all will completely forget it exists

Folks are still discussing how much they enjoyed Flower Boy and Igor, you think everyone will just forget about this album? :mjlol:

It's being way overhyped. nikkas are just used to hearing mediocre shyt. So anything something comes along that's above average, it's seen as excellent or great when it isn't.

i wouldnt say its overhyped. if anything, a good chunk of his core young cac fanbase aint feeling this one. they can't relate to the dj tags and glitzy shyt talk.

the praise is warranted. it's the first album where he's firing on all cylinders as a rapper, producer and songwriter. this record coming from the same kid that was rapping about rape, farts and murder over bumass casio preset sounding beats 10 years ago is nothing short of impressive. it was pretty daring of him to pay homage to the genre in this way as a mainstream "alt" artist and outside of runitup, lemonhead and some odd mixing decisions, it's a great album.

EDIT: runitup is a sleeper, really grew on me. this is the mainstream rap album of the year so far.

eh...

he's coming back into the fold after years of trying to be anything other than the hip hop culture. he wanted to be "other" at the time when Drama was promoting the mixtape culture that was one of the last real movements in hip hop. he distanced himself from it because he was afraid of it and didn't fit into it and it wasn't friendly to the cac audience he really desired.

now the gimmicks don't work and he needs something authentic to align his lifestyle with in order to be legitimized. he shytted on it and now he needs it for his own creative survival.

miss me with that shyt.

he's not untalented, it's just this work isn't groundbreaking, and he ain't slick imo as to why he's embracing this style or aspect of the culture right now.
