I've been a Tyler fan since Yonkers, but dude used to be a straight up c00n. On one hand he can't be really suprised that a lot of his white fans don't hold high opinions of black art when you didn't relay that information in the best way back in the day. On the other hand, you would think his fanbase would actually grow the fukk up like he eventually did.

I will put the blame more so on white fans just not respecting black art in general and believing Hip-Hop and other black dominated art to be just a "moment" or phase in their life. I also put blame on internet culture and everyone thinking they're a goddamn comedian. But still, he can't outrun his past. He's amassed a wildly ignorant fanbase due in part to how ignorant he used to be.

I don’t agree with some of the things he put out there over the years but on the same note we judge someone who was a teenager at the time of his come up. Good to see him growing and atleast trying but his fanbase is his fanbase now. Recently had a conversation with my much younger sister who likes his recent music but hates the fanbase that comes with it. Atleast he is self aware, but ultimately probably too late now to reshape his core.
