you know who also gets a ton of plaques for his singles?

Russ.

It's also really hard to tell the casual listener what hits he has. Tyler, the Creator is massively successful yet fans can make Sexyy Red playlists. Hard to explain.
russ doesnt have a classic album sooooooooooooooooooooo :camby:

There's a huge difference between Tyler and Russ' profiles. Tyler has been a star for over a decade and has been far more visible the last 5 years. Russ has no mainstream visibility just a loyal fanbase.

Earfquake was huge so you'd have to be completely out of touch to think he's never had a hit.

It’s the segmentation of the post-radio/streaming era…there’s a crowd/demographic out there streaming the fukk outta Tyler and Russ songs…culturally there might not be a lot mixing between them and the spaces where certain other acts feel like they have “hits”..like I’m not sitting around listening to Sexyy Red, but her music impacts close enough to where I’m at culturally that i notice her biggest songs and recognize them as “hits”…”casual listener” in this context is gonna vary on the demographic…

I’ve heard this guy on a few features but I’ve never listened to any songs or albums by him.

I think Tyler utilizes his musicianship better as a producer but he’s not better than Drake at making hits and songs at all.
Drake doesn't make hits his writing team does. He's a karaoke act that has no business in these conversations.

When he played this at the Pop Out show, mfs went crazy over it.
They knew it word for word. The old flat top geezers aren't in tune with modern music and that's ok. Rock the bells does a nice show for them everr year with the “legacy” acts

And his hits aren't even good, they were successful for the same reason Mcdonalds is successful.
