If that's the case then why single out Tidal for inflating the numbers?

Couldn't any artist do this on any streaming service that doesn't use a paywall like Spotify and YouTube?
That's what the poster a few post above said so he doesn't know what Tyler is talking about .

how about the fact that they push their artists front and center on the streaming services and advertise their own artists and when I search for something their own artists are constantly popping up. I'm not hatin, that's the rules :manny:

just sayin, I don't hear a lot about it on here. And Apple is obviously a lot bigger than Tidal.

I don't see the problem in putting your artist at the center of the platform. But free plays is corny.

billboard dont report sales -- they just monitor activity

but when billboard writes articles they get their sales #'s from RIAA
What about their charts?

Do they use streaming services to determine where an artist or album is numbered on their charts?

And is that the same as the RIAA?(meaning 1,500 = 1 album sale)

"As we wrote in January when YouTube data was added to the Hot 100's equation: "Generally speaking, our Hot 100 formula targets a ratio of sales (35-45%), airplay (30-40%) and streaming (20-30%)."

Ask Billboard: How Does The Hot 100 Work?

they probably use similar metrics... but like I said Billboard doesn't show numbers in their charts. so who knows?

Damn.

That's crazy when you think dudes like XXX made it on billboards and have no music to purchase or AirPlay. That's all streams.

So Apple's free trials and deals to bring folks in ain't corny or what

I had a week long Spotify free trial
3 month Tidal free trial...signed up only because of Money & Violence
Even a 3 month free trial for Google Music/Youtube Red
....all thanks to slickdeals

I have no issues with Tidal putting Beyonce, Nicki, Jay in the forefront.
I do have a issues with streams that are not behind a paywall counting.

You have to sign up to listen to the album and in good quality. It only gives you a limited amount of time to listen. You are arguing for nothing

I see that. Good look.

RIAA new rules are shady as fukk. Any stream counts towards album sales, including YouTube views.

So looks like Tyler doesnt know what the fukk he's talking about :francis:

and I don't see why he not bytching about Spotify which is the same shyt. There's no paywall to stream there either.
Youtube views count too?

How many for 1 sale?

I asked a simple question how is Apple Music manipulating soundscan #....someone answered by promoting their artist...doesn't everyone do that.
However, counting thats not behind a paywall is new
