of course a large part of it is growth and maturation from a teenager to a grown man in the public eye, and he deserves all his salutations for that evolution but its disingenuous to phrase it like hes been at this level of artistry his whole career
the kid who made yonkers is not the same artist thats popping shyt now and its a clear distinction, so when it comes to giving flowers and earning dues the different eras in his career need to be clear

I’m glad that I don’t have a dog in this fight. I’m not a fan of his music but he gets props from me for his longevity. He’s a vet now and it’s time to see where he’d place in an all time list. I have no idea where I’d even attempt to put him lol
He still feels a way he wasn’t a blog era/radio favorite. So to him it’s like he was being doubted but like dawg listen to Tron Cat or Sarah. It’s a reason you weren’t played on the radio or people viewed you as weird.

OF was a literal movement during the Blog era. While they weren't beloved by some of the sites, they still were able to build an insane base and were relevant enough to get those cosigns that you mentioned.
That's not his gripe--him being overlooked now may be the problem although he doesn't seem to let it affect him.
