Let's be real, before the pharrell dikk riding, tyler was a weirdo c00n of the highest degree, dude did the most c00n shyt. I don't feel bad for him getting the backlash. I think for a very long time this board was anti-tyler the creator.

Now he's made his money and doesn't need his white audience, now he's changing his tune lol
Tyler can mimic Pharrell all he wants, he still always gonna be a weirdo edge lord nikka in my book :umad:

Tyler seems like he is one of many who had phases in their lives while trying to figure themselves out, did things for attention they thought they desired, but didn’t know much yet about reality yet.. much about history but gained insight through time and experience…

The problem they now have is, that they did all online, on digital “record” (all the Internet really is), and now it comes back to bite them in the ass as time has gone on and they’ve grown into an older adult and found something they feel the need to stand for.

But internet is forever until the last server drops offline. A lot of people will go through something similar… especially while seeking fame and attention.. fake love, but just not in front of the world.

This look like one of those online things people get mad at for a couple of days and then move on.

People still gonna listen to him, just like how people still listen to Kanye, R.Kelly, Diddy, Drake, etc. It's all fake performative bs.

So many artists have done some crazy ass things but the community still supports them because they are entertained by their art.

Wasn;'t that what Tyler was doing with Gulfwang? And I'm not defending Tyler I'm trying to figure out what the morality of black face imagery is. Cuz that KMD album cover was a for profit album which was printed on other merchandise such as caps & shirts. You don't think shock and controversy was associated with that? wasn't there a lot of label problems getting that album released?

I'm just saying it's either all right, or it's all wrong. I hate this pick & choose, shyt. Tyler is wrong but were Nas & KMD right?
He absolutely wasn't. It was pure shock value and attention seeking behavior.

It's why I didn't mess with the group oddfuture at all at the time

And multiple members called him out about that stuff publicly at the time. It was just a different social environment so it was never a big thing

I mean… ultimately it is all about the art for an artist.

But some will still listen. Some who weren’t aware will bush him. People who never listened will feel like they made the correct choice.

I barely bother caring about “famous people’s” personal lives because I already know they are just humans and being a “genius” in music doesn’t always mean you are a genius in life. Very few people are…

Being “popular” is HS shyt to me.. Never cared for HS, I tested out. All this shyt is.. it’s just a popularity contest.

So unless they are on some Muhammad Ali shyt, doing and saying things at a time where truth was few and far between and fear was rampant, and someone standing on their beliefs even if it means losing everything they worked for, then I’m just like :yeshrug:

Tyler wasn’t raised to be a standup nikka like that… it was obvious with the shyt he was saying/doing. Hindsight is 20/20 and yeah he has changed, but when he decided to go to war against his racist mostly white fanbase, he lacked self-awareness of his own past… which makes him a hypocrite. But most people are at some point

You older than Tyler is and trying to take up for a little nikka making c00n decisions as a grown ass man.

Shut the fukk up and make another "platinum" attempt thread :camby:

I mean this is what happened when anti intellectualism took over mainstream hip hop. And that doesn’t mean every song had to be on some on some civil rights shyt. But it does mean ignorance became celebrated and some shyt to aspire to. As such nothing these cats do surprises.

Didn’t Lil Yachty just drop an offensive bar about Floyd? Lil Wayne Emmitt Til? Nikki Minaj on Malcom? 50, Snoop etc being MAGA or adjacent?

And on and on. People didn’t heed brother Malcom’s warning about black celebrities.

Tyler knew better back then and still proceeded with the fǔckery because it came with the shock value of his music

Of course the industry said “go right ahead” because he was the one gem out of his whole crew that could sell shīt even thought the others were talented.

He grew up on the internet and should’ve know the internet would never forget all of the extremely questionable shīt he proudly did because he was too late to realize being black is amazing even if you are dealing with personal problems and it feels like the world doesn’t care.

With that said, let twitter rake his ass over the coals for the rest of the year. He’s gotten passes and co-signs that most artists wish they had.
