You might wanna change that title Contemporary R&B started in the late 80's.

Alot of what we think of as Contemp R&B was out out since the early 1980's

Contemporary R&B, also known as simply R&B, is a music genre that combines elements of rhythm and blues, soul, funk, pop, hip hop and dance.

fukk outta here with this black people don't buy albums shyt again:camby:....We do buy albums, and we buy enough albums that if we love your music and it connects with us on a personal level you will do numbers....We cant help it if artist still think they can fool nikkas with a hot single like they did 10 years ago.

Also if you are not "in" or whos trendy you probably not gon sell, similar to clothing and shoe brands with black folks...but theres no excuse for rnb artist who have the floor and all of our attention to not focus on just putting out great rnb....and black women especially buy albums so really no excuse for rnb artist....you can go close to gold off adult black women alone.

I basically see this as Tyrese holding up a mirror to white people to point out the hypocrisy and they racism, maybe they never even thought about it,but now they can,and now they can prove they are racist if they don't change they ways...Tyrese basically just gving them rope knowing they wont change, but his points proven either way:myman:

You wont give the hottest songs on black stations a chance on yours because you know your audience is inherently racist and would only like it if a white man sang it?interesting how accurately you think of your audience:sas1:

and don't compare it to hiphop, because white people aren't cool enough to pull off hiphop that even white people want to hear at a high enough clip yet....hiphop and black folk in general are becoming so watered down pretty soon blacks wont be needed for that either.

Best advice to black artist which its probably too late for now,you shoulda kept it where its hard for a white person to do what you do at the level you do it....But instead you watered your soul down for dollars and are now upset everybody forgot what real soul feels like and white people can pull it off:francis:

not sure what Tyrese gains from this by pointing out white racism....not when you consider the fact dude is trying to navigate Hollywood at the same time....dudes making transformer, fast and furious money....not sure what he makes off albums, but it aint what he makes on movies.

Plus he protested at the Eric Garner rally I believe,so he also protested at something that wasn't just about him.

:myman::clap: Say it again.. Apple music is the future because these DJ's have the freedom to play what they want despite how popular a song is. You will see that most of your favorite artists and Dj's are actually fans of good music and its not as expensive as Satelite and doesn't require you to be in the car that has satellite to listen to it.. Iheart is going to start to realize theses overly analyzed super safe playlists is not what people want to hear..

you guys think apple really has your best interest in mind?

its just as corporate.and has industry figureheads behind it.

white people dont listen to r and b like that. you dont need a white audience to be successful. Yes r and b has fallen off. artists arent going platinum like they used to. before you had artists going platinum in their sleep. joe, jill scott, jagged edge, jodeci, keith sweat, gerald levert, etc. if you think these artists had a white fanbase your fooling yourself. the issue is r and b doesnt have a platform. radio only plays popular songs. they are stuck in their ways. there's no apollo, video soul or soul train. those shows used to be key for black music. I have no idea whats going on with artists music unless i follow them on twitter or social media. Teedra moses just came out with an album. i only found out because of social media.

pretty sure its just his song they don't want to play...half the pop songs on z100 and ktu in NYC market are hip hop artists...so maybe its different in other regions but I don't see any discrimination in the market i'm in

:stopitslime: yes they do...it's just easier for them to support it when it's a white person doing it. Same thing happened with Blues music.

. you dont need a white audience to be successful. Yes r and b has fallen off. artists arent going platinum like they used to.

You can have a solid career with just black support but you'll never reach superstar status w/o whites.

They all at some point touched crossover fan bases

WBLS is an Adult Urban station, of course they play R&B. Older Black folks listen to those stations.

yeah, that was a response to the guy who posted this...

I've already proved that for the most you aren't getting pass Gold with a pred "black" fanbase.

I don't feel like you did, unless I missed it:patrice:...all I saw was you showing where Keith Sweat and R Kelly were going 3 and 4 times platinum, and making the assumption that you cant sell that many records without whites:comeon:....basically saying white people bought 3.5 million copies of R Kelly and Keith Sweats albums:mjlol:

Its crazy to compare hiphop to rnb in the first place, the number of black rnb fans faaaar outweighs the number of hiphop fans because first of all how long its been around....Second thing is the fact rnb is not regional in any capacity...if your a rnb fan who was listening to the likes of Al Green and Marvin Gaye,if you hear about great new rnb phenoms who are the future greats like Keith Sweat and Kells:banderas:...its likely you cop the album:manny:

For hiphop I think you just underestimate the fact that very few artist manage to cross regional boundaries,as well as most fail to appeal to the very many different preferences of hiphop fans.

Off top artist that went gold and platinum that have black fanbases would be Plies and E-40....popular yet ignorant opinion is that they couldn't rap:wtb:....for both of these artist most of they fanbase would be centered in they region,Plies in the south,40 in the west and some fanbase in the south.....that's pretty much the whole east not buying the album, not to mention black fans who aint buying a album from someone they think sucks lyrically.

In hiphop these rappers just fail to have mass appeal and cross regional boundaries as well as have something that every rap fan can enjoy....and lets be honest, old hiphop fans and old rnb fans definitely aint fukking with this new shyt they call rnb and hiphop enough to buy it at large....they relying on one generation to cop this shyt and saying fukk the rest....in this era 500K-1 mil is still possible imo for a pred black fanbase if you know what you doing and have the talent to do it imo.

But especially in the old days no question, these cacs aint getting majority of the credit for the albums we came out strong to support and the artist we made famous:childplease:,time to kill that myth:wow:
