The Shower Posse was heavy in The Tri-States, Miami, and Dallas. I heard an interview where he spoke about this. He never came off as a sucka or a goofy to me.
People would try him for being a model so I notice he kinda put a little extra masculinity on his stories lol

Brazy that you knew or remember this …. Just saying

I know you trying to be funny but it's similar to when Dr Dre was playing gay with Eminem on that "I Think My Daddys Going Crazy" song talking about how they have gay sex with no condoms. :scust:

I just couldn't shake off how neither Rakim or KRS or Ice Cube would ever play gay like Dre did on that song. So yeah, when someone who is supposed to represent having a street edge that you look up to with high regards does some out of left field gay shyt it's kinda hard to not forget.

Every older nikka from NY makes it sound like they were Alpo in the 80s and 90s. My barber even told me he invented nikkas wearing backpacks and hoodies as street wear. :stopitslime:

The connotation of the hoodie and knapsack. Is all from boys in nyc.
Chicago nikka wore towel coats chiffon shirts and slacks.

Chicago nikka did not even wear girbauds and used to lol at boys like us in them.
Do not let toys from Chicago. Lie about their gear.
Chi had ghetto wear like used and damage suits completely juxtaposed from hip hop entirely.
The sag. That nikka wear was made by Paul Ray from the chi tho.

Yet sag'n came from Graf writer racking cans.

She from West Farms. Dunno how she hooked up with that nikka but, as a kid, she rightfully had me shook of him. :pachaha:

As I understand it (cause I just heard these stories from my uncles) once they started really getting notoriety around the town, they organized other drug/get money crews in the area on some REAL "get down or lay down" shyt...like, they were REALLY on that time (that's prollee where Beans got that sensibility from in "State Property"). So yeah, a syndicate of different crews, but you either joined them purposefully or you joined by force. I even heard that they once tried to extort the manager at Rick Mahorn's club in Cherry Hill (on Cuthburt) back when it used to really pop off there. Guess that didn't go too well, though, cause alotta famous people (and cops) used to frequent there, and they must've gotten wind of it, so they kinda fell back from it.

Maybe some other Philly heads can speak to this with greater detail....? All I know is what my uncles told me, and them nikkas was in the streets heavy back then. Two got knocked and are doing football numbers....my uncle Vic just got out last year, and he was sentenced in '93. I'm just glad their old asses are still alive. They're very active in the church now.

As far as other groups in Philly who were wreckin' shyt in the 90s.....all I know is them O Gang nikkas kicked in the door of one of my uncle's spots back in the early 90s and pistol whipped ere'body in the jawn. What was REALLY wild - and what most people not in the streets don't KNOW - is that even though O Gang was a predominantly Italian gang, they had the GRIP of young Black cats as runners for them, mostly pills and Tylenol 3's, and them young nikkas was sick in the head f'real. True story: one cat I knew named Shawn used to work for them....one day we were chillin', laughin' and vibin all afternoon, right? So Shawn left to go see his girl. I guess he found out that she was cheating, so he straight blew her head off with a sawed-off....like not even an HOUR after laughin' and chillin' with us. Like, you just never knew who would completely crash out at a moment's notice. The 90s in Philly was a wild time (dont get me started on my Bronx/Harlem summers growing up).

(Damn, y'all got me reminiscing on some Mary J Blige shyt. :heh: )

But yeah....all these shyts are the reasons why my Dad was like "you're gettin up outta here, take your ass to law school" and sent me to Creighton, halfway across the country. :pachaha:

Were any beef between the muslim street groups and the christian/other or just regular others back then?

Glad you made it out safe bruh. 1993 is when JBM was mostly done, so when did your uncle join?

Were any beef between the muslim street groups and the christian/other or just regular others back then?

Beefs aren't really along religious or sectarian lines. The JBM was the successor to the original Black Mafia (PBM) which was mostly Muslims, but JBM was majority non-Muslim. So you could say 1970s Philly was the only time there was a sectarian dimension. The PBM controlled the local NOI Mosque No. 12. They were a legit mafia and with their hands in every type of business or taxing them but they weren't very professional when it came to hits.

Black P Stones leadership during its height in Chicago was mostly Muslim belonging to different denominations but they included non-Muslim members. Most BPSN membership nationwide is non-Muslim. They have offshoots like La Familia Stone and Latin Stone in Chicago. Anyone saying there's so-called Muslim gangs running around is fearmongering. Federal and major State prison systems is where there's a proper Muslim car simply out of self-preservation, sometimes there's multiple Muslim cars of different denominations.

:pachaha:

Nah dawggie...NOBODY in my family was JBM (thank goodness). All my people were straight hustlers. My Uncle Vic got knocked for murkin' a dude at a dice game in North Philly. Apparently they were arguing over what the point was, and dude said some slick shyt - and then threatened Uncle V - thinkin shyt was sweet, not knowin Unc was a hothead AND a sore loser. :snoop:

So my uncs were cool with JBM nikkas but not really affiliated with the crew. In fact they were among the ONLY types who didn't get extorted by or forced to join JBM, but that ultimately left them vulnerable to other crews tryinta rob and extort them (like them O Gang retards) because they weren't under that "protective umbrella", if you will.

Hell, it was bad enough that they were just deep in the game, they didn't need that JBM drama, as well. :whew:

Great old article on the posse. 1,400 bodies in 3 years.

Police and Federal agents in 20 states have arrested more than 120 suspected members of Jamaican gangs that are said to be responsible for more than 1,400 murders and the large-scale distributing of illegal drugs.
The arrests, which began Wednesday night and continued today, were concentrated in Houston, Miami and New York. More than 400 warrants have been issued.
Attorney General dikk Thornburgh said at a news conference in Washington that the violent gangs, ''posses'' to Jamaicans, have about 10,000 members in the United States. ''They are known to be involved with over 1,400 drug-related murders since January 1985, as well as kidnapping, robberies, assaults, domestic and international gun trafficking, money laundering and fraud,'' he said.

Jesus Christ, I remember American Gangster in BET had an episode on them
