I never understood why the second you make eye contact with a female, she looks down. 
It usually happened to me while I was on the job, for some reason. They were always either fat, frumpy-looking, or just plain out stank looking.
Yeah, I've gotten mixed reviews from females over the years. I also don't exactly fit the "status quo", so I've had more than my fair share of unfair rejections. So, I couldn't tell you how I really rate with females. I guess I can say I have a "unique" appearance...therefore hit or miss.

When (young) women think a man is attractive , they generally don't like to show reactions towards the person of interest. They don't want to seem "thirsty."(their word). It's a mix of modesty and insecurity. They'll usually look until you catch them looking, then they'll look away, down or pretend that their extra involved in what they were doing beforehand. Women usually grow out of that behavior.
If you're ogling a chick and she says nothing then you're in. She's probably doing the same.
