Low-key you can blame Snowden for this...a lot of the repotting around his disclosures was also misrepresented according to experts:
You would think it would be obvious to our military given the cloud centered nature of a lot of tech these days would be on this before this was leaked. I can’t even get a Facebook or a google account without having to jump through 10 different hoops to make sure my every movement and every piece of personal information isn’t shared with every friend and family member and people I don’t know.
They’re lucky some news outlet outed this information before bad actors got a hand on it. It was an open secret and who knows, they probably already knew about it. I’m sure other countries, not just hill occupying terrorists, knew about it already. Especially those with robust intelligence agencies.
Though I would argue as a few people stated that alerting “proper folks” under the radar would have been preferable or at least set a delay before you report on the information publically allowing counter measures to be put in place first. I know the latter is usually the middle ground some journalist reach in order to still be able to openly report and maintain some security.

His "gifts" were computer exploits that our government was aware of and was leaving open on purpose so they could also exploit those holes. fukk that bullshyt. Govt should have sent memos to the companies whose products had open exploits and told them to fix that shyt and stop endangering the average citizen.
