Uber let's passengers click "quiet ride" button so they don't talk to drivers

It’s only for the luxury rides at least, so I don’t necessarily see an issue. As long as they say thanks and have a nice day at least.

I usually make sure to say hello and ask how the driver is doing, and I will try to engage if they want to because it can probably get a bit monotonous if it’s silent all the time

I'm sure many of the drivers don't feel like talking to people either. They be like when the option is selected, then they get the passenger that selected that quite ride option, but wont stfu..... and the driver is like STFU bytch

For real, if I drove for Uber or Lyft, I'd only take the passengers who selected the 'quiet' option.

Well damn can the drivers have that option too. I swear I was driving the other day and these two Asian chicks were talking to beach other the whole 25 min ride with their little Asian voices . shyt was mad annoying I ain't gonna lie . But on some real shyt if you got good convo, people usually tip you like crazy. I network my ass off driving lyft. Sold hella beats or just put people on. Couldn't imagine having to shut up , in YOUR DAMN CAR, before you even pick up the passenger. That shyt sounds insane

Just the other day, me and this Uber driver was talking about Apple II computers and Ham radio. Turned to find out that he knew the lead guitarist that played for the Eagles because of Ham radio. Then this bad jawn and I talked about dentists trying to play them games to get a profit. We really living in a fukked up world where there's a button to stop potential friendship

When I use to do uber my people skills always saved me. I always can tell by someone’s vibe wether they want to talk or not.

I don't mind a convo every now and again...like when I was in Panama and Colombia recently I was taking taxis and uber everywhere so I was chopping it up with some of the drivers despite the language barrier which was cool. Most of them just picked you up and took you to your destination without talking your ear off. Others provided valuable info which I needed for my stay and vice versa, so it worked out.

But the ones over here particularly the cacs fukking talk too much. When it's really late and I've had a long day, I don't wanna be asked a whole bunch of questions or be bothered in anyway. Some of them just can't take a hint when it's so obvious you don't feel like talking. Unlike people in other places, they not giving me any valuable information anyway so what's the point. Not everybody is gonna wanna talk all the time.

And for the record there are plenty of Uber Drivers who also do not want to talk to passengers but often times they’ll get a chatty patty passanger so it goes both ways. But Uber is using the customer is always right tactic to make it seem like it’s one way.
