Reminds of the massive controversy when they were going to make that Medal of Honor game with a Black protagonist and it got cancelled and IIRC they were a good deal into developing it.

On topic, while the premise sounds promising, Ubisoft is amongst the last companies I'd want to see handle anything like that in this decade. Not only are they bankrupt creatively, they've proven time & time again thar they are terrified of angry right wingers, hence FC5 switching it's premise mid-development.
Granted it was right before MAGA, but this is where Hanger 13 separated themselves, as they actually went all in with Mafia 3. Please don't forget that people were pissed, the malignant tumor that is MAGA simply hadn't spread throughout gaming yet like it has today.
They didn't give gamers the white washed, sanitized version of racism. It was sadistic, vulgar, & hateful, much like actual racism, and white folks who directly identified with those people were livid & uncomfortable because in order to progress, they had to play as a negro that systematically massacred men & women who shared their beliefs.
Ubisoft wouldn't dare go that hard and would only make a game like this when they feel it's safe and trendy. They're going to continue bowing to the genetically recessive, involuntarily celibate neckbeards until a decade plus from now when it's safe for them to release something like this while pretending that they're brave & their artistic integrity & vision was never compromised. Hell, that's if they're even still around in 15 years.

The discourse around gaming is cooked. I knew it was cooked when cacs were crying. About how the nazis were being treated in Wolfenstein New Colossus, and The Mafia 3 outraged. Ubisoft would make it to where you hunt the same repetitive chapters of KKK over and over again. Liberate a million plantation forts to unlock treasure. Have a giant map with 80% of it being filler? As you can see, I am salty af over shadows
