Solid BJJ and a guard like Gilbert Burns. He was too small and eventually gassed, but he gave Chimaev his toughest fight to date because he forced him to stand.

Chimaev wanted no part of a 4th or 5th round vs Usman. He was beyond gassed. And Usman was in short notice. Didn't even get a chance to fill out that 185 weight class.

Thinking back, no one has fighting spirit quite like that little bald midget Volkanovski, he was willing himself up from Islam's takedowns and smashing him on the feet towards the end of their first fight
Strength is very fukking important, JDM looked week and small, Volk was a little tank

Islam is the # 1 pound for pound fighter.

Double champion, tied Anderson's 16 win streak, and I think he has the most lw title defences.

This is a historic run. Outside of maybe Shavkat it's hard to see who could really challenge him at 170. He's truly elite.

A prime Usman is definitely dangerous, but remember Chimaev was clinging to Usman’s back for half the fight until he gassed and Usman started stuffing his takedowns. With Gilbert, he barely wrestled because of the BJJ threat and ended up getting dropped a couple of times. So either someone who can nullify his wrestling or someone with legit BJJ who forces him to stand. And they still need solid striking on top of that.

Anik brings up an interesting point mentioning how good morales looked tonight, as well as prates. And then usman is still out there. I don’t know if either of those 3 could beat Islam right now. Usman obviously will have the best shot but he’s “UFC old” while Islam is in his prime. Idk man. Welterweight might be wrapped up for a good minute :francis:
They should fight each other

Those newer guys are young enough to run it back multiple times

Remember that was only 1 round. Nd he couldn't advance on kamara. They basically stalemated in the ground. Yes he had major control on Usman but he dealt no damage with all that control. And again if ne1 is game to take on his wrestling he gasses quick. Against a 170 Usman nt a true 185 km short rest.

When you see Prates, out strike and KO Leon with ease. Then watch JDM get taken down and controlled on ground so easily. Then see da look in JDMs face between rounds like bed been broken, doesn't want to be there. Looked like he didn't belong there

It really mks you realize how avg Belal really is
