It would be much easier to just call them a hyper oppressive authoritarian country. Calling them “communist” just seems weird because there’s seemingly nothing communist anymore about the Chinese government. Centralized government is how most countries are ran dude that doesn’t tell us anything about their ideology.

China is clearly a very capitalist nation. I’m not sure how anyone could mistake them for “communist”

there is no private property in China. There are 99 year leases, but the state still owns everything. The state never privatized any farm land either. It’s all still own by the state. All the animals and all the trees and everything else is a state resource.

China still has a large state owned presence in industries as well.

For the most part, the companies that build infrastructure projects in Africa and other belt and road associated nations are socialized or state-owned enterprises.

China also has more regulatory control over its economy than any other large country. They can turn off regulatory switches at will and at any time without any hesitation or red tape.

On the other side it doesn’t have a strong social welfare system. And there are definitely private businesses. There is also less interference in the core market system than people might realize.

It might have a market system, but I think it’s the closest to a communist country in the G20.

being that they lifted more people out of poverty faster than any country that has ever existed. I think they offer lessons on what economic systems work and what do not work.

Deng Xiao Peng is probably one of the most important people in human history. Far more important than Mao Tze dong. By extension, Lee Yuan Yew is probably right along with Deng in historical significance.

If anything, China proves one thing—private property doesn’t matter, democracy doesn’t matter, social freedom doesn’t matter, stable regulations are overrated, and individual personal freedoms are not important to a nations’ success either.

Economic freedom, private owned businesses (not private property) and functioning markets feed bellies and provide the state with enormous resources to pursue state objectives. It’s really that simple. The state can Add whatever welfare system on top of that core system, Pursue whatever world domination plan or build a fantastic army for the sake of negotiating or competing with other nations. The state can own all land and all property, but as long as a functioning market allocates those resources efficiently rather than a state actor, efficiency and economic progress can occur.

china is a perfect example :heh: it's the true end game of communism

-all the income inequality, and failed wealth distribution, of capitalism
-all the repression and lack of choice that comes with a one-party dictatorship communist government

some animals are more equal than others
