This is the perfect example of why people consider the corporate elite and greedy out of touch for suggesting these ideas and also shows an imbalance in power that allows initiatives like the keystone to carry on despite going against the will of those who would be impacted.

before oil prices came down and it was profitable to run these tiny fracking wells the closest one to me was about 5 miles away yet my well water had an oil slick when you let it settle

The additives in these operations are trade secrets and not agricultural products, like oil, so I doubt they are tested for. I have no idea which ones are available for plants to uptake, but I would love to see some extensive tests looking into just that. Your organic produce might not be...

Next move will be to the Pacific NW in part because it's one of the few places in the US we aren't poisoning the water supply via fracking

Statement of Sen. Warner on Keystone XL Pipeline
Nov 18 2014

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA) released this statement following today’s 59-41 vote on the Keystone pipeline. Sixty votes were required for passage.

“I support construction of the Keystone pipeline. A State Department environmental review found the project will not significantly add to global warming, it will create jobs (though likely not as many as supporters claim), and it will allow the U.S. to increase its energy security. After six years of study and debate, it is time to approve this project.”

“This commonsense project is just one small piece of a much larger energy strategy, but it has grown into a symbol for whether our country will support needed energy infrastructure,” said Heitkamp in a statement released moments after the president’s announcement. “As I have said time and time again — it’s a pipeline. … We need to work together to rise above partisan rhetoric, deal in real facts … and see the Keystone pipeline for what it really is.”
